A quick service call for a broken Samsung wall air conditioner
At AirGreen , we know how essential a functioning air conditioning system is during Greater Montreal's hot days. Recently, our team was called to Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville to work on a Samsung Smart Inverter wall-mounted air conditioner that was no longer producing cold air, despite the unit starting normally.
The customer, a single-family home owner, contacted us after noticing the unit was blowing lukewarm air and an unusual vibrating noise coming from the indoor unit. The repair was completed the same day, thanks to the availability of our mobile service team.
First step: complete inspection and precise diagnosis
Upon arrival, we performed a complete HVAC system diagnostic . The Samsung wall unit had dust buildup on the filter and blower fan , which could be hindering airflow. But the main source of the problem lay elsewhere.
While checking the communication between the indoor and outdoor units, our technician noticed an error code indicating a faulty electronic board . This type of failure is common on some models of wall-mounted air conditioners after several years of use, especially when electrical surges occur.
Tests performed:
-
Checking the power supply : stable voltage at 240 V.
-
Checking the communication signal between the two units: intermittent signal.
-
Temperature sensor test: inconsistent values at startup.
The diagnosis confirmed that the indoor unit's main control board (PCB) was faulty.
Repair and replacement of the electronic card
We first turned off the power and carefully removed the unit's front panel. The circuit board, housed behind the right-hand cover, was showing signs of overheating : some components were slightly blackened.
Fortunately, AirGreen has an inventory of spare parts for several brands , including Samsung, so we were able to perform a complete PCB replacement on-site.
After installing the new board, we plugged the system back in, checked the connections, and performed a soft reboot . The outdoor unit resumed normal operation, and the compressor quickly produced a stream of cold air.
Preventive maintenance: cleaning and calibration
As with every AirGreen intervention, we took advantage of the repair to carry out a complete maintenance of the wall-mounted air conditioner :
-
Cleaning the filters and the internal turbine
-
Suction of drainage pipes to prevent condensate overflows
-
Dusting the exchanger fins
-
Calibrating the indoor temperature sensor
Once everything was reassembled, the air conditioner was tested for 20 minutes in cooling mode. Result: blowing at 6°C , minimal noise level , and perfect compressor stability .
Result: restored comfort and increased reliability
The customer immediately noticed the difference: the Samsung Smart Inverter air conditioner ran more quietly and cooled the room in just a few minutes. Thanks to the replacement of the electronic board and a complete maintenance, the unit regained its original performance.
We also advised the owner to install a surge protector on their dedicated outlet to prevent future power fluctuations from damaging the new board.
