An urgent service call in West Montreal

On-site diagnosis: a silent compressor and a suspicious leak
Upon our arrival, our technician conducted a thorough inspection of the wall-mounted condenser located above the rear balcony. The fan was running normally, but no heat was being transferred—a clear sign that the compressor was not active. Using a pressure gauge and a pressure test, we quickly detected an abnormal drop in the refrigerant level . A slow leak was the cause of the problem.

Steps of repair
1. Recovery and purging of the circuit
Before any intervention, we recovered the residual gas in accordance with environmental standards. Then, we purged the circuit to remove any moisture.
2. Repairing the leak
The damaged section of copper pipe was carefully cut, cleaned, and silver-resoldered using an oxyacetylene torch. Once the soldering was complete, we performed a nitrogen leak test at 300 psi for 20 minutes: no pressure variation, proof that the leak was sealed.
3. Emptying and recharging with R410A
After confirming the leak, we pulled a deep 500 micron vacuum with a precision vacuum pump and then recharged the system with the exact amount of R410A prescribed by the manufacturer Sanyo.
4. Performance verification
Once the system was restarted, the indoor blown air temperature dropped from 26°C to 15°C in less than 5 minutes . The compressor resumed its normal cycle, and the customer could see an immediate difference.
Results and maintenance tips
Thanks to this quick intervention, the Sanyo wall-mounted air conditioner was back to full efficiency. The customer was relieved to avoid a complete replacement—a much more economical and environmentally friendly repair. We recommended:
