Sharp wall-mounted air conditioner repair in La Prairie

Accurate diagnosis and rapid intervention on a Sharp wall-mounted air conditioner

At AirGreen , we were recently called to repair a Sharp wall-mounted air conditioner in a single-family home in La Prairie , on Montreal's South Shore. The customer reported that their unit, although set to 16°C, was no longer producing sufficiently cold air. This is a common situation as the July heatwave approaches, when HVAC systems are put to maximum stress.

First step: on-site observation

Upon arrival, our technician checked the wall unit's operation using a precision infrared thermometer . Result: the blown air temperature only dropped to 11°C , whereas a high-performance Sharp air conditioner should ideally expel air at around 6°C or lower for a room set at 16°C.

The contrast between the displayed temperature and the measured temperature indicated a loss of efficiency in the refrigeration cycle . Possible causes: a lack of refrigerant, a clogged filter, or even a failure of the external compressor.

Complete system inspection

Our technicians then:

  • Checked the pressure of the R410A refrigerant : slightly below the standard.

  • Inspected the Sharp outdoor condenser : the coil was partially clogged with dust and pollen.

  • Tested the fan and the electronic card : normal operation.

  • Measured the inlet/outlet temperature difference : only 5°C (insufficient).

The final diagnosis: a slight lack of refrigerant gas combined with fouling of the condenser .

Performance Repair and Refurbishment

We have proceeded to:

  1. A complete cleaning of the condenser and evaporator using a non-corrosive product specific to Sharp appliances.

  2. Tightening of the fittings and a nitrogen leak test to check for leaks.

  3. Top up with R410A refrigerant according to the pressures recommended by the manufacturer.

  4. A check of the blowing temperature after intervention: 6.8°C — a return to optimal performance.

Result: restored comfort and improved energy efficiency

After the repair, the customer immediately noticed a difference: the room temperature dropped quickly, and the Sharp system was able to maintain stable comfort while reducing its power consumption.

Our team also recommended:

  • Annual cleaning of the filters .

  • An inspection of the outdoor coil before each summer.

  • And, if necessary, the installation of Wi-Fi control for better energy management.
