An urgent service call for a broken Daikin unit

This was the case for a customer in Pointe-Claire , whose Daikin system was no longer blowing cold air even though the unit seemed to be operating normally.

Diagnosis: A blocked interior fan and a faulty temperature sensor
Upon opening the front panel of the indoor unit, our technicians noticed a significant accumulation of dust on the fan blades and irregular movement of the impeller . This obstruction significantly restricted airflow, causing the motor to overheat.
After a thorough test using our electronic thermodynamic cycle analyzer , we also detected an erroneous reading from the interior temperature sensor , resulting in a discrepancy between the actual temperature and the requested setpoint .
These two elements combined perfectly explained the lack of cooling felt by the customer.
Intervention: cleaning, calibration and replacement of the probe
The work was carried out in several stages:

Complete power off of the indoor and outdoor unit to ensure safe operation.

Removing the front panel and bottom cover to access the turbine and control board.

Thorough cleaning of the fan, evaporator coil and condensate tray using a Daikin-approved biodegradable cleaner.

Replacement of the temperature sensor with a genuine Daikin part, calibrated on site with our infrared test equipment.

Reboot and complete calibration of the system , including verification of communication between the indoor and outdoor boards.
Once these steps were completed, the Daikin heat pump returned to optimal performance. The air outlet temperature measured at the grille was 9.4°C , which is perfectly in line with factory specifications.
Technical details and best practices
This intervention was also an opportunity to remind our client of some essential points for maintaining an efficient Daikin system:

Clean the filters every 3 to 4 weeks , especially during the summer season.

Avoid obstruction of air inlet and outlet grilles .

Schedule annual maintenance including turbine cleaning, pressure checking and sensor calibration.
Even minimal lack of maintenance can lead to costly breakdowns and excess energy consumption .
Result: comfort regained and efficiency restored
