A precise service call: when a Fujitsu heat pump no longer cools like before
At AirGreen , we recently received a call from a customer living in Sainte-Dorothée, Laval , who was concerned that his Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump was no longer producing cold air as efficiently as before. With summer approaching, this situation threatened to turn his comfort into real discomfort.
Our team therefore planned a quick visit to carry out a complete diagnosis and restore the device to its original performance.
Diagnosis: a drop in performance revealed by infrared temperature measurement
On site, our technician began by measuring the air outlet temperature using a professional infrared thermometer . Result: 15.8°C , whereas a heat pump in perfect condition should normally blow around 8 to 10°C in air conditioning mode.
This difference immediately indicated a performance problem with the refrigeration circuit . The technician then continued with a thorough inspection:
-
Filter check : slightly clogged, but not blocking.
-
Inspection of the indoor coil : accumulation of dust and grease deposits.
-
Fan check : normal operation, no vibration or abnormal noise.
-
Refrigerant pressure measurement : level slightly below manufacturer's specifications.
The hypothesis of a micro-leak of R-410A refrigerant was therefore quickly confirmed.
Intervention: cleaning, detection and recharging of the refrigeration circuit
To restore the system's efficiency, our team proceeded methodically:
-
Complete cleaning of the indoor coil using a biodegradable solution, to maximize heat exchange.
-
Leak detection with a high-sensitivity electronic detector: a small leak was located at the flare connection on the outdoor unit.
-
Flare repair : tightening, gasket replacement and full vacuum restoration on the circuit.
-
Accurate recharging of R-410A refrigerant according to Fujitsu recommendations.
-
Final performance test : After restart, the blowing temperature dropped from 15.8°C to 8.6°C , indicating full performance restoration.
Result: comfort restored and energy efficiency restored
By the end of the repair, the customer's Fujitsu heat pump was operating optimally again. Airflow was more powerful, the room temperature dropped quickly, and power consumption was reduced thanks to the compressor returning to normal performance.
We also took the time to explain some best practices to the client:
-
Clean the filters at least once a month during the hot season.
-
Avoid setting the cooling mode too low , which puts unnecessary strain on the compressor.
-
Have the unit inspected annually before summer to prevent refrigerant leaks.
