A service call for a completely shut down unit
At AirGreen , we are often called upon to intervene in situations where the comfort of a home is compromised by a sudden breakdown. This is the case with this Midea wall-mounted heat pump located in a single-family home in Brossard , on the South Shore of Montreal . The customer contacted us after noticing that his unit was no longer blowing air, even though the indicator light on the indoor module remained lit.
First observation: a powered, but inactive system
Upon our arrival, our technician carried out a series of diagnostic tests :
-
Checking the power supply and circuit breaker;
-
Communication test between indoor unit and outdoor compressor;
-
Inspection of the electronic module inside the wall unit;
-
Visual observation of condensates and coil cleanliness.
One thing quickly caught our attention: the main control board was showing signs of burn-in at the fan relay. This type of failure is often linked to a buildup of dust and moisture combined with voltage fluctuations.
Intervention: complete disassembly and replacement of defective components
To ensure a lasting repair, our technician partially disassembled the Midea unit's front panel to access the circuit board and fan motor. Here are the key steps of the intervention:
-
Power supply cut-off and safe disconnection of the terminal block.
-
Removing the top cover and disconnecting the control module.
-
Deep cleaning of the coil using AirGreen biodegradable products.
-
Midea Main Control Board Replacement, Model Compatible with Unit Serial Number.
-
Checking wiring, connectors and temperature sensors.
-
Restart and complete test of the cooling cycle.
As soon as the power was turned on, the indoor fan started running again and the cold air began to circulate normally.
Performance testing and calibration
In order to validate the success of the repair, we carried out several technical checks:
-
Blowing temperature measurement : 13°C after 5 minutes of operation.
-
R-32 refrigerant pressure checked at outdoor unit.
-
Stable power consumption in accordance with the nameplate data.
-
Heating mode test to ensure system reversibility.
The client noticed an immediate return of comfort in his living room, without excessive noise or temperature fluctuations.
Preventive maintenance and personalized advice
Our technicians took advantage of the intervention to remind people of the importance of regular HVAC maintenance . A wall-mounted heat pump like this one must be cleaned at least once a year to:
-
Prevent fin fouling and loss of energy efficiency;
-
Avoid short circuits due to humidity;
-
Extend the life of the engine and electronic components;
-
Reduce electricity consumption.
The customer has chosen to join our AirGreen Annual Maintenance program , which includes a complete inspection, filter cleaning, refrigerant gas check and thermostat calibration.
Result: a high-performance heat pump and a satisfied customer
Thanks to this quick and methodical intervention, the Midea heat pump has returned to optimal performance. The air is now fresher, energy consumption is better controlled, and the customer can once again enjoy consistent comfort, summer and winter.
This project once again demonstrates the expertise of our AirGreen teams , capable of diagnosing and repairing any type of residential HVAC system – whether Midea, Fujitsu, Sharp, Gree, Goodman, Trane, Bosch or other recognized brands.
