Repair of a Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension

When a silent appliance suddenly stops heating

At AirGreen , our technicians are regularly called upon to intervene in typical residential buildings in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension neighborhood of Montreal. That day, a customer contacted us about a problem with his Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump , installed in a narrow hallway between two bedrooms. The device, usually efficient and discreet, was no longer producing heat despite a normal display on the remote control.

The customer was worried about a costly breakdown at the start of the cold season. We therefore quickly dispatched an AirGreen certified technician to carry out a complete on-site diagnosis .

Diagnosis: A faulty control board and lack of maintenance

From the first tests, several anomalies were noted:

  • The indoor fan was working, but the outdoor compressor was no longer engaging .

  • The heat pump was not responding correctly to the temperature settings.

  • A communication error (code E:EE) was displayed sporadically.

After verification, we confirmed a failure of the electronic control board inside the wall unit. This failure was aggravated by a buildup of dust on the internal exchanger , reducing the efficiency of the thermal sensor.

These two factors combined explained the loss of performance and the lack of heating.

Intervention: card replacement and complete maintenance

Our experts carried out a complete technical refurbishment of the Fujitsu wall unit:

  1. Disassembly of the facade and complete cleaning of the coil and fan blades using a non-corrosive product.

  2. Replacement of the original Fujitsu control board , with soldering and connection of the temperature sensors and the evaporator motor.

  3. Calibration of thermal probes to ensure that the system correctly interprets ambient temperature variations.

  4. Communication test between indoor and outdoor unit to confirm synchronization.

  5. Measurement of refrigeration pressures on the R-410A circuit to validate the correct balance of the system.

Once the intervention was completed, the heat pump returned to optimal operation, with a stable blowing temperature at 28°C in heating mode.

Result: comfort restored and reliability assured

Thanks to our intervention, the customer was immediately able to enjoy efficient and even heating again.
The main advantages observed:

  • Reduced operating noise , a sign of a well-calibrated compressor.

  • Fast response to heat demand .

  • Optimized power consumption , since the system was no longer operating at overspeed.

We recommend annual preventative maintenance , especially for installations located in narrow corridors where dust circulates easily, which can compromise the proper functioning of electronic sensors.
