Repair of a Hexzair wall-mounted heat pump in Chomedey

When a refrigerant recharge brings a Hexzair heat pump back to life

At AirGreen , we were recently called for a Hexzair wall-mounted heat pump repair in the Chomedey district of Laval . The customer contacted us after noticing a gradual decline in the performance of their unit: the heat pump was no longer cooling efficiently, even at full power. This is a common problem in residential settings, often linked to a refrigerant leak .

Precise on-site diagnosis

Upon arrival, our technician performed a complete inspection of the Hexzair system . The outdoor unit, installed on a metal base, showed signs of wear on the service connections . Using our dual gauge manifold , we measured the pressures and confirmed an abnormally low suction pressure , typical of a lack of refrigerant.

A leak test was then carried out using nitrogen, followed by a run through the electronic leak detector . The cause was quickly identified: a slightly porous seal at the flare connection on the liquid line. This type of leak, minimal but continuous, leads to a significant loss of energy efficiency in the long term.

System repair and upgrade

Once the leak was located, our technician:

  • Replaced the flare joint with a new model made of high pressure annealed copper.

  • Cleaned and tightened fittings to Hexzair specifications.

  • Pulled a full vacuum on the system for over 30 minutes to remove all moisture and impurities.

  • Performed a full recharge of R410A refrigerant , in accordance with the original capacity of the system.

The gas cylinder was weighed on a digital scale to ensure perfect dosage accuracy. All under control of high and low pressures for optimal balancing.

Performance verification and results

After recharging, pressure and temperature measurements showed performance returned to Hexzair standards:

  • Stable discharge temperature at 50°C

  • Balanced suction pressure

  • Blown air temperature at 8°C in air conditioning mode

Once the unit was tested, the customer immediately noted a noticeable improvement in interior comfort , and above all, quiet and smooth operation, without excessive vibrations or excess power consumption.

Maintenance advice given to the customer

We took advantage of the intervention to advise the client on some good practices:

  • Clean filters every 3 to 4 weeks.

  • Have the refrigerant pressure checked at least once every two years.

  • Avoid blocking outdoor ventilation with plants or objects.

  • If performance drops, contact a certified technician rather than waiting for a complete breakdown.

These simple actions can extend the lifespan of a wall-mounted heat pump and ensure optimal energy efficiency.
