NOVAIR in Montreal: heat down to -25 °C, or down to -35 °C
NOVAIR makes two wall units that we install: the Ultra Heat series, which heats down to -25 °C, and the Hyper Heat series, down to -35 °C. Same indoor unit, from 9,000 to 24,000 BTU/h; the outdoor unit is what changes everything. At -15 °C, the Hyper Heat delivers 100% or more of its size, according to ENERGY STAR. We show you the certified numbers, then we choose with you.
One indoor unit. The number on the outdoor unit tells you the cold.

Lower the thermometer, see what’s left
Pick a size, then slide the temperature. At the three points certified by ENERGY STAR, you see the real heat output of each series. Below that, we only tell you what NOVAIR states: we don’t make up any number between the points.
Ultra Heat
LEA12SZ25SK-O + 2LEA12UUSK-I67% of its nominal size · COP 2.39. ENERGY STAR certified value.
Hyper Heat
LEA12SZ35SK-O + 2LEA12UUSK-I100% of its nominal size · COP 1.80. ENERGY STAR certified value.
At -15 °C, Hyper Heat minus Ultra Heat (12,000)
+4,000 BTU/h
This is the point that separates the two series: at -15 °C, NOVAIR writes “100% Efficiency at -15 C” for the Hyper Heat, and the ENERGY STAR numbers confirm it for every size.
Certified points: 8.3 °C (47 °F), -8.3 °C (17 °F) and -15 °C (5 °F). ENERGY STAR publishes these values from different tests; we show them as they are, without drawing a curve between them. Below -15 °C, no certified value is published for these models.
Same size, two series, line by line
Pick the size: the table fills in with the certified numbers of each system (AHRI number) and the better box turns green.
