According to ENERGY STAR, the ZHU1 12,000 delivers 18,900 BTU/h at -8°C and 16,000 at -15°C, exactly like the CHU 12,000, with the same SEER2 (25.0) and the same LogisVert ($2,268). It heats down to -27°C according to Sharp, and its Sharp warranty is published: 7 years on the compressor, 6 years on parts. We install it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.

At 12,000, the ZHU1 gives 30% more heat at -8°C: 18,900 BTU/h against 14,500.

Coefficient of performance (COP) at -15°C according to ENERGY STAR. An electric baseboard turns all its electricity into heat, no more: its COP is 1. For cold-climate certification, ENERGY STAR requires at least 1.75 at this temperature.

How Sharp describes its ions

At 12,000, the ZHU1 delivers more heat at -8°C: 18,900 BTU/h against 14,500 for the ZU1, according to ENERGY STAR. It also has a better SEER2: 25.0 against 22.0.
At -8°C, the ZHU1 12,000 and the CHU 12,000 both deliver 18,900 BTU/h (ENERGY STAR). The CHU heats down to -30°C according to Sharp, against -27°C for the ZHU1.
