The name says 12,000 BTU: that's the unit's size class. Durastar publishes 12,000 BTU/h at 230 V, and 11,800 at 208 V, the supply in many buildings.
3,500 WThe heater that heats the room
The "35" in DRPTAC12Y32351A means a 3.5 kW heater: 3,500 W (10,900 BTU/h) at 230 V, 2,897 W at 208 V, on the 6-20P plug of the LCDI cord supplied. It heats the room all winter.
52 dBThe noise at low speed
52 dB(A) at low speed, 52.5 at high speed, as published by Durastar. In a bedroom, that's the number that decides the complaints: the unit runs at night, two metres from the bed.

Environ 650 pieds carrés, et les corrections à y faire
Notre règle retient environ 18 000 BTU/h par 1 000 pieds carrés, ajustée selon l'isolation, la fenestration, la hauteur des plafonds et l'ouverture entre les pièces. 12 000 BTU couvrent donc près de 650 pieds carrés. Un poste de travail, un écran et une fenêtre plein sud ajoutent une chaleur qu'une chambre louée à la nuit ne produit pas : c'est cette marge qui justifie le format ici plutôt que le Climatiseur PTAC DURASTAR | 9000 BTU - R32.

La grille extérieure sous la neige
La grille extérieure referme l'ouverture côté rue, au-dessus de la ligne de neige : sur une façade d'hôtel, le repère n'est pas le sol mais le banc laissé par le déneigement. Le manchon mural reçoit une légère pente vers l'extérieur : elle évacue le condensat l'été et empêche l'eau de fonte de rentrer en mars.
Le cordon, la prise et la coupure de saison
L'appareil est alimenté en 220 V sur un circuit dédié, avec une prise placée à portée du cordon. Une chambre qui ne climatise plus de novembre à mars se coupe au disjoncteur plutôt qu'à l'interrupteur, volet de grille refermé. Nous montrons le geste au personnel à la mise en service.
Les signes de l'automne, et le filtre
- Un délai de trois minutes au redémarrage protège le compresseur.
- Un filet d'air froid près de la grille par grand vent signale un volet mal refermé.
- Le ventilateur continue de tourner quelques instants après l'arrêt du compresseur.
