The RSH-50 from RectorSeal is a surge protective device (surge protector) for single-phase 120/240 V AC equipment. It protects air conditioners, heat pumps and ductless wall-mounted heat pumps against transient surges, whether they come from a storm or from the grid.
Certified protection, mounted at the unit
The RSH-50 mounts with a 1/2 in nipple into a knockout on the disconnect or the unit, on the outdoor unit as well as on the indoor air handler. RectorSeal combines a gas discharge tube (GDT) and thermally fused varistors (TFMOV). A green light shows that protection is active.

On its own or with a disconnect
The RSH-50 is available on its own, for a disconnect that is already in place, or in a version with a disconnect that combines shutoff and protection. It is designed for single-phase equipment; a three-phase unit needs a different model. The connection must be made by qualified personnel, in accordance with the Electrical Code.

Is my unit compatible?
RectorSeal designs it for single-phase 120/240 VAC equipment: outdoor units, air handlers, heat pumps and ductless wall-mount heat pumps. Three-phase equipment needs a different model.
What does the green LED mean?
It shows that protection is active. If it is off while the unit has power, have the device checked.
How is the disconnect version different?
The disconnect version combines surge protection and the unit’s means of disconnect in one assembly. Tell us which one you want and we confirm the format before ordering.
Can you install it?
Yes. We add it when we install your heat pump or during a service visit, with the wiring done by qualified personnel.
