The role of the D5FUAAH36XAK

The two-storey cottage is the typical home in many neighbourhoods of Laval, the North Shore and the South Shore. Its central system has to heat and cool three levels: the basement, the ground floor and the bedrooms upstairs. At the heart of that system, the air handler circulates air through the entire duct network.

Arcoaire’s D5FUAAH36XAK is a 3-ton air handler with a published airflow of 1,083 CFM. It is sold alone, without an outdoor unit: it is used to replace an air handler at the end of its life or to complete a system with a compatible outdoor unit.

Getting air up to the bedrooms

In a cottage, the upper floor is often the hardest area to keep comfortable: too hot in summer, sometimes cool in winter. The cabinet’s airflow matters, but it does not solve everything. The ducts going upstairs are longer, the return air is sometimes insufficient and the registers are rarely balanced. That is why we look at the whole system before recommending this size.

During the estimate, we identify the problem rooms, check the return air and list the useful corrections in the quote. A properly sized air handler and a well-balanced duct system give more even comfort from one floor to the next.

Dimensions and electrical supply

The cabinet is 49.02 x 21.02 x 21.02 in (H x W x D), the same footprint as the 2.5-ton size in the series. It accepts 115 V or 208/230 V, single phase: 8 A minimum circuit ampacity at 115 V, 6 A at 208/230 V, and 15 A maximum overcurrent protection. Its refrigerant connections are 3/8 in for the liquid line and 3/4 in for suction.

The confirmed data for this model does not name an outdoor unit or an electric heat option. We therefore validate the match, refrigerant included, with your unit’s model number before any order. After a free on-site estimate and a written quote, our technicians set the cabinet, connect the ducts, the refrigerant line set, the drain and the electrical supply, then commission the system.

Sold alone, this air handler does not qualify for the LogisVert grant, which follows a certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. If you are replacing the whole system, we present that option as well.
