Who the D5FUAAH48XAK is for
A large home with a finished basement, open rooms and several bedrooms needs an air handler that can move a lot of air. Arcoaire’s D5FUAAH48XAK is the 4-ton size in the series: it publishes an airflow of 1,472 CFM and distributes the air heated or cooled by the outdoor unit through your ducts. In summer, it circulates the air cooled by its coil; in winter, paired with a heat pump, it spreads the heat to every room, basement included.
Sold alone, it is for homeowners replacing an air handler of the same capacity and for contractors pairing it with a compatible outdoor unit. The match, refrigerant included, is checked before ordering: the confirmed data for this model does not name an outdoor unit or an electric heat option.
The electrical supply deserves a close look
The cabinet accepts 115 V or 208/230 V, single phase. At 115 V, the minimum circuit ampacity reaches 14.5 A, very close to the 15 A maximum overcurrent protection. At 208/230 V, it drops to 11 A. Before choosing, we look at your panel: the space available, the existing circuits and what the rest of the project will require.
Our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 covers ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We can therefore plan the air handler’s circuit at the same time as the refrigerant connection, in a single quote.
Planning the space and the access
The cabinet is 52.99 in high, 24.49 in wide and 21.02 in deep. In an existing home, you have to think about the path to bring it to the mechanical room: stairs, door frames, tight corners. We measure that route during the estimate, along with the final location and the service clearance the manufacturer requires. If the cabinet has to pass through a narrow door, we plan for it before installation day rather than improvising on site.
Its refrigerant connections are 3/8 in for the liquid line and 3/4 in for suction. If you keep an existing line set, we check that it matches.
