Who the FVM4X6000BL is for
A large multi-storey home with a finished basement often means a long duct system, bedrooms far from the mechanical room and rooms that do not all respond at the same pace. The FVM4X6000BL is designed for those cases: with its 3/4 HP variable-speed ECM motor, it covers a range of 540 to 2,000 CFM and reaches 1,750 CFM in nominal cooling with a size-60 outdoor unit.
It is the indoor unit of an R-410A central system. Arcoaire also lists it with outdoor units of size 36, 42 or 48, which leaves room if your system needs to change. The model is available while supplies last.
Before choosing: space and access
A 5-ton air handler is large. This one is 59-3/16 in high and 24-11/16 in wide, and weighs 207 lb shipped. In an existing home, the first check is therefore not technical: the cabinet has to fit down the basement stairs and leave enough room in front of it for service. We check that route during the estimate, before proposing this model.
The 7/8 in suction connection also deserves a check if you keep an existing refrigerant line set. The cabinet installs upright or lying on its left side as standard, on its right side with a minor modification, and downflow with accessory kits.
Comfort through the seasons
In summer, the dehumidification function helps keep the air drier in the rooms. In winter, the Heat Pump Comfort option lowers the airflow in heat pump heating to deliver warmer air at the registers. If you want electric backup heat for extreme cold, a heater kit is added to the cabinet; it is sold separately and we choose it based on your electrical panel. The washable filter is factory supplied, and the TXV is already installed on the three-row aluminum coil.
