For very large homes
The BVA-60WN1-M15 is the largest air handler in Bosch’s BVA 15 series: 5 tons (60,000 BTU/h), a 3/4 HP PSC motor and an R-410A coil in the same cabinet. It is the indoor section of the BOVA M15-series inverter heat pump, on the IDS 1.0 Plus platform. It is aimed at very large homes, extended residences and some small commercial spaces served by ducts.
Bosch publishes the same dimensions for it as for the 4-ton size: 54-1/2 in high, 22 in wide and 24 in deep (1385 x 560 x 610 mm). If the final load calculation hesitates between the two sizes, the space to reserve in the mechanical room stays the same. The cabinet weighs 165 lb net.
Airflow and noise go together
The motor offers three speeds: 1,726, 1,983 or 2,138 SCFM, with medium as the factory setting. Bosch publishes 69, 67 and 63 dB(A) depending on speed. At this airflow, two things matter more than anything: ducts and return air large enough, and a location that keeps the cabinet away from bedrooms. In a large home in Laval or on the South Shore, we often choose a basement corner away from the rooms people sleep in, or a horizontal installation when the space calls for it, since the cabinet converts to horizontal left or downflow.
Electrical, backup heat and connections
- Without a kit: 208/230 V single phase, 60 Hz, 5.7 A minimum circuit ampacity, 15 A maximum overcurrent protection.
- Electric backup, sold separately: EHK-05B (5 kW), EHK-08B (7.5 kW), EHK-10B (10 kW), EHK-15B (15 kW) or EHK-20B (20 kW); the last two are dual circuit.
- Refrigerant: 3/8 in liquid connection, 7/8 in suction connection.
- Filter: integrated 20 x 22 in rack, tool-less door.
The air handler is sold alone. The spec sheet does not name the exact outdoor model: we confirm the match before ordering. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant, which follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair.

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: the LogisVert grant follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair; the air handler alone does not qualify.
- The outdoor unit is not included and the spec sheet does not name the exact outdoor model: we confirm the match before ordering.
- The main ducts and return air must be able to carry the selected airflow; at 5 tons, that is the first thing to check.
- Heater kit sold separately: EHK-05B (5 kW), EHK-08B (7.5 kW), EHK-10B (10 kW), EHK-15B or EHK-20B (15 or 20 kW, dual circuit).

Is this air handler noisy?
Bosch publishes 69 dB(A) at high speed, 67 dB(A) at medium and 63 dB(A) at low. At this size, location matters: we avoid placing it against a bedroom and set the speed to suit the ducts.
Can my ducts keep up?
That is the first check on any 5-ton project. The air handler can deliver up to 2,138 SCFM; we measure the main ducts and return air, and the quote lists any corrections needed.
Is the 5-ton cabinet larger than the 4-ton one?
No. Bosch publishes the same dimensions for sizes 48 and 60: 54-1/2 in high, 22 in wide and 24 in deep. The 5-ton size weighs 165 lb net.
Which heater kit should I choose?
Bosch lists five kits for this size, from 5 to 20 kW; the EHK-15B and EHK-20B are dual circuit and need two circuits at the panel. We choose the kit based on the house and the panel’s capacity.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
Not when sold alone. The grant follows a certified outdoor unit + air handler pair; for a complete system, we check eligibility in the quote.
