The BVA-24WN1-M18 in brief
The BVA-24WN1-M18 is the 2-ton (24,000 BTU/h) air handler of Bosch’s original BVA series, designed for the first Bosch IDS 1.0 heat pump platform. It is available while supplies last. Its distinguishing feature is its motor: a 1/3 HP multi-speed ECM with five speed taps.
For those five taps, Bosch publishes airflows of 1,016, 955, 927, 887 and 829 SCFM, measured at 0.0 in. W.C. In practice, the installer has several settings to match the airflow to the house and the ductwork, which helps keep the system quiet at the grilles.
Who this air handler makes sense for
The most natural case is replacement. If your home in Laval or on the North Shore has a Bosch IDS 1.0 system whose air handler needs replacing, finding a BVA from the same family keeps things simple. It also suits a new 2-ton project in a single-storey house or a Montreal condo that already has ducts, as long as stock allows.
If stock runs out, Bosch offers another 2-ton air handler in the BVA family: the BVA-24WN1-M15, with a three-speed PSC motor and the same published footprint. The two do not use the same heater kits.

- Electrical: 208/230 V single phase, 60 Hz; 3.5 A minimum circuit ampacity; 15 A maximum time-delay fuse or HACR breaker. The motor is rated at 2.8 A.
- Space: a cabinet 46-1/2 in high, 19-5/8 in wide and 21-5/8 in deep, plus the plenum and service clearance.
- Filter: 18 x 20 in size.
- Backup heat: not included. It is added with a WEHK-series kit; the heat output allowed for size 24 is confirmed before ordering.
The air handler is sold alone, without an outdoor unit. It does not qualify for the LogisVert grant, which follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair; we confirm the match with the manufacturer before ordering.

How does it differ from the BVA-24WN1-M15?
Both are 2-ton air handlers with the same published footprint, 46-1/2 x 19-5/8 x 21-5/8 in. The M18 has a 5-tap multi-speed ECM motor; the M15 has a 3-speed PSC motor. Their heater kits differ: WEHK for the M18, EHK for the M15.
Which heater kit can be added?
The M18 uses WEHK-series kits. The spec sheet consulted does not show reliably which heat outputs are allowed for size 24: we confirm it with the manufacturer before ordering.
What electrical circuit is needed?
Bosch publishes a 3.5 A minimum circuit ampacity and 15 A maximum protection, by time-delay fuse or HACR breaker, at 208/230 V single phase. A heater kit raises the load; we check the panel on site.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
Not when sold alone. The grant follows a certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. For a complete system, we check the proposed pair’s eligibility.
