01 · Your room

Is it powerful enough for your room?

Choose the size of the room and the ceiling height. We calculate how many times per hour the Sharp KCP70CW filters all of its air.

Room size

Ceiling height

5.5air changes / h

The dark tick marks 4.8 per hour, the AHAM rule used for allergies.

Yes, it's powerful enough.

In a 350 sq ft room with an 8 ft ceiling, it filters all the air 5.5 times per hour at full speed and removes 90% of the smoke in about 25 minutes.

Calculation: smoke CADR × 60 ÷ (area × ceiling height). Time to 90%: theoretical, closed room, full speed. Indicative; doors, windows and furniture change the result.

02 · Performance

What it does, in numbers

The CADR is the volume of clean air delivered per minute, measured by AHAM for three kinds of particles. The bigger the number, the faster the room is cleaned.

03 · Running cost

What it costs to run, all year

A purifier works best when it runs all the time. Choose a speed and how many hours a day: the cost follows.

For the whole house

A purifier cleans one room. Ventilation renews the whole house.

A purifier recirculates the room's air; it doesn't bring in fresh air or remove humidity and CO2. An air exchanger does that for every room, and a central HEPA system filters the air of the ducts. AirGreen installs both.

08 · FAQ

Quick answers

How big a room can it clean?

According to its AHAM rating, up to 396 sq ft with an 8 ft ceiling, at 4.8 air changes per hour. In a bigger room it still cleans, just more slowly: try the calculator above with your own numbers.

How much electricity does it use?

Running 24 hours a day at Hydro-Québec's Rate D: about $4.68 a year at low speed, $19 at medium speed and $39 at max speed.

How often do the filters need changing?

The manufacturer gives up to 24 months for the HEPA filter (FZ-P11HFU), depending on the air in your home: smoke, pets and renovations shorten it. Clean the pre-filter every 30 days.

Can it run day and night?

Yes. A purifier only keeps the air clean while it runs. At its lowest speed it draws 4.8 W at 21 dBA, about $4.68 a year around the clock.

Air purifier or air exchanger: which one do I need?

They do different jobs. The purifier filters the air of one room; the air exchanger replaces stale, humid air in the whole house with filtered outdoor air. In a recent, airtight home, the exchanger comes first; the purifier adds a finer filter where you need it.

Sharp's Plasmacluster Technology: A Valuable Ally for Air Quality

At AirGreen, we understand that the purity of the air you breathe is a priority. That's why we're proud to incorporate Sharp's Plasmacluster technology into our air purifiers. This advanced technology generates positive hydrogen ions (H⁺) and negative oxygen ions (O₂⁻), which are naturally present in the air we breathe. Simply put, Plasmacluster ions are molecules of water and oxygen present in the air, but in a different form.

The Process of Generating Plasmacluster Ions

The generation of Plasmacluster ions is done in two steps. First, through a plasma discharge, the water and oxygen molecules in the air are ionized. Plasma discharge is a process in which a voltage is applied to the discharge electrode, thus generating positive hydrogen ions (H⁺) and negative oxygen ions (O₂⁻).

Then, these ions will attract the water molecules present in the air (H₂O) due to their electric charge, thus forming stable cluster ions. This structure resembles a grape cluster, hence the name "Plasmacluster". This is also why the Plasmacluster logo looks like a grape cluster.

The Working Mechanism of Plasmacluster Ions

Plasmacluster ions have an inhibitory effect on viruses and other harmful substances in the air. The positive (H⁺) and negative (O₂⁻) ions bind to the surface of viruses and other substances and transform into OH radicals. These OH radicals, endowed with extremely strong oxidation power, quickly extract hydrogen (H) from the protein on the surface of viruses and other substances, thus decomposing the protein and suppressing activity. The surface of bacteria and allergens is mainly composed of proteins. By removing the hydrogen atom (H) from this structure, the undesirable substance is deactivated. Moreover, the OH radical binds to the hydrogen atom (H) to immediately form water (H₂O), which is returned to the air.

Plasmacluster technology also offers the advantage of removing static electricity. Plasmacluster's positive and negative ions react with positive and negative charges respectively, thus eliminating static electricity. This is another example of how Plasmacluster technology creates a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment.

In short, Plasmacluster technology is an effective and safe way to improve your indoor air quality while removing bacteria, viruses, and allergens. At AirGreen, we are proud to offer this technology in our air purifiers, as we are committed to providing you with the highest quality air to breathe.
