12,000 BTU heat pump: minimum LogisVert requirement? (2026)

At AirGreen, we confirm that for a heat pump eligible for the LogisVert program, the outdoor unit must have a minimum nominal power of 12,000 BTU/h (in air conditioning mode).

Eligibility
Heat pumps installed on or after November 26, 2025, must be ENERGY STAR® certified to qualify. Installations completed before this date are treated according to the appliance list in effect at the time of installation.
For the "efficient heat pump" measure to be eligible, the complete system (outdoor unit + one or more indoor units) must, in particular:

  • be new and ENERGY STAR® certified;

  • include an outdoor unit with a minimum rated power (air conditioning mode) of 12,000 BTU/h ;

  • having been purchased in Quebec (or online from a company with an address in Quebec);

  • be installed in an eligible dwelling whose main heating is electric.

Technical conditions
The 12,000 BTU/h threshold refers to the nominal power in air conditioning mode of the outdoor unit (it is a criterion for the system's eligibility).
Apart from this minimum, financial aid is calculated based on heating performance at -8°C :

  • $50 per 1000 BTU/h at -8°C for an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump;

  • $120 per 1000 BTU/h at -8°C if it is of the "cold climate" type.
    If information is missing, the goal is to know what to check and where: manufacturer documentation, data associated with the AHRI number, and evidence requested in the file.

Works and licenses
To be eligible, the work must involve the installation of an ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump (heating and cooling). The company performing the work must:

  • be registered with the Quebec Enterprise Registrar;

  • hold the appropriate RBQ licenses (considering the work to be done);

  • to be a member of the corporation in one's sector of activity.
    For installation-related licenses, the installer must hold a license with one of the indicated subcategory combinations, and electrical work requires subcategory 16 – Electricity.

Documents to be provided
The application is made online and must include the required supporting documents, including:

  • Proof of ownership (municipal tax bill or first page of the deed of sale).

  • Purchase and installation invoice(s): number and date, installation date, customer name, address, company name, GST and QST numbers, RBQ license number, description of the product and eligible work, AHRI or ENERGY STAR® number, cost of work. The invoice information must demonstrate that the invoices have been paid.

  • Clear photo of the outdoor unit's rating plate showing the ENERGY STAR® symbol and indicating the model number and serial number (one photo per model).
    Depending on the situation (e.g., income from property), Hydro-Québec may require a NEQ , a QST number or a SSN .

Deadlines and transmission of the request

  • The request must be submitted no later than 9 months after the date of implementation of the measure (or, if several measures are grouped together, from the first one).

  • Applications are only accepted online at logisvert.ca (email or mail: not processed).

  • If the application is incomplete or inadmissible, Hydro-Québec will notify you within approximately ~ 20 business days of receipt.

  • The processing time is 10 to 12 weeks from receipt of a complete application.

  • Hydro-Québec may schedule a compliance check; within 6 months of the request, you must allow access to the dwelling.
