Central split heat pump: eligible for LogisVert? (2026)

Yes: a split-system (central) air-to-air heat pump may be eligible for LogisVert , provided that the complete system and installation meet the criteria below. (2026)

Eligibility

  • The "Efficient heat pump" measure accepts a split (central) air-to-air heat pump (one indoor unit + one outdoor unit).

  • As of November 26, 2025 : the heat pump must be ENERGY STAR® certified to be eligible. Before this date, the process is carried out according to the list of appliances in effect at the time of installation.

  • The dwelling must be located in Quebec, habitable year-round, built (construction completed) and supplied with electricity (Hydro-Québec network, autonomous network, municipal or cooperative network).

  • Important note: if you are a tenant, the financial assistance is intended for the purchase and installation of an induction cooker or a heat pump dryer (not the installation of heat pumps).

  • In stand-alone networks, customers registered with the Stand-alone Energy Network (ERA) Program are not eligible for financial assistance for the installation of heat pumps.

Technical conditions
To be eligible, the complete system (outdoor unit + indoor unit) must:

  • to be new;

  • be ENERGY STAR® certified;

  • include an outdoor unit with a minimum rated power of 12,000 BTU/h (in air conditioning mode);

  • having been purchased in Quebec (or online from a company with an address in Quebec);

  • be installed in an eligible dwelling whose main heating is electric.
    Financial assistance (if all requirements are met):

  • $50 / 1000 BTU/h at -8°C ( ENERGY STAR® heat pump);

  • $120 / 1000 BTU/h at -8°C if the heat pump is of the "cold climate" type.
    If a point is not clear (e.g., the value in BTU/h at -8 °C ), good practice is to check it in the manufacturer's documentation and/or via the AHRI file, and then validate as needed with support 1 833 396-1888 .

Works and licenses

  • The work must be aimed at installing an ENERGY STAR® heat pump for heating and cooling purposes.

  • The company performing the work must be registered with the Quebec Enterprise Registrar, hold the appropriate RBQ licenses, and be a member of the corporation in its sector of activity.

  • RBQ licenses (examples of accepted combinations): 15.1 or 15.7 or 15.8 + 15.9 or 15.10 (wall and central installation).

  • Electrical work: subcategory 16 – Electricity.

  • Turnkey service: the contractor must hold all required licenses, unless they hold a general contractor's license (1.2 or 1.3) allowing them to subcontract to a qualified contractor.
    Ineligible work (examples):

  • installation of indoor appliances (and/or air distribution network) outside the insulation plan (e.g. attic/loft);

  • replacement of a single coil or a single indoor/outdoor unit;

  • replacement following breakage covered by warranty/insurance;

  • installation/replacement of a central heat pump in a home with a geothermal system.
