This is what Sharp Canada describes for the KCP110CW and KCP70CW. True HEPA captures at least 99.97% of 0.3 µm particles, the hardest size to catch.
Washable pre-filter
Traps dust and larger particles.
Activated-carbon filter
Helps reduce some common household odours.

Plasmacluster: what Sharp says, and what it points out.
We stick to Sharp’s own pages, caveats included. Sharp launched Plasmacluster in its air purifiers in September 2000.
A small electrical discharge produces positive and negative ions surrounded by water molecules.
On a surface, these ions combine into OH radicals.
According to Sharp, these radicals remove hydrogen from surface proteins, which reduces their activity.

It’s Sharp’s ion technology: a small discharge produces ions that, according to Sharp, act on surface proteins. Sharp points out that its tests used concentrations far higher than the units produce and that results vary from room to room. On its heat pumps, Sharp makes no health claims.
The purifier moves around, humidifies and covers 538 sq ft (KCP110CW) or 396 sq ft (KCP70CW). The Airest stays on the wall, heats, cools and filters a 471 sq ft room, according to Sharp. If you’re already replacing your heating, the Airest does both.
No, the unit still filters, but the room’s air goes through the filter less often. At one air change per hour, Sharp Canada gives 2,603 sq ft for the KCP110CW and 1,913 sq ft for the KCP70CW.
