Source 1 humidifiers and dehumidifiers: start by measuring your plenum
Source 1 is the parts and accessories brand behind YORK, Luxaire and Coleman systems. Each Source 1 humidifier needs its own opening in the furnace plenum: from 9 1/2 × 9 1/2 in to 14 3/4 × 14 5/16 in. We start there, then look at the size of the house.

Source 1 is the original accessory line of the YORK family.
Not a store brand: Johnson Controls’ original parts brand, sold through its distributor network. Four dates worth knowing.

The same house needs a different humidifier depending on how tight it is.
YORK’s guide gives three areas per model: tight, average or loose house. Pick yours.
Tight: newer or well-renovated house. Loose: older, drafty house. If unsure, pick “average”.

Three questions about your basement rule out the wrong models fast.
Answer yes or no. The tool says so when no Source 1 model can do it.

Who makes Source 1 products?
Source 1 is Johnson Controls’ original parts and accessories brand for its YORK, Luxaire, Coleman, Fraser-Johnston and Guardian equipment, sold through its distributor network. The documents name Unitary Products Group (Johnson Controls), without naming a factory. On August 1, 2025, Johnson Controls announced it had closed the sale of its residential HVAC business to the Bosch Group.
What is the difference between a bypass unit and the FP7000?
The BP4000MT, BP5000MT and BP6000MT are bypass units: a 6 in round duct sends warm air through the unit, powered at 24 V. The FP7000MT has its own fan: no bypass duct, but 120 V power.
Does the BP4000 need a drain?
No, according to YORK’s brochure: it uses 100% of the water it receives and holds less than 8 ounces of water in the unit. It is the only one of the four.
What opening does the BP4000 need?
The guide calls for a 10 × 12-3/4 in plenum opening for the BP4000MT, like the BP6000MT. The BP5000MT needs 9-1/2 × 9-1/2 in and the FP7000MT, 14-3/4 × 14-5/16 in.
Which humidifier for a 2,000 sq ft house?
In an average house, the guide gives 2,000 sq ft to the BP4000MT and BP6000MT, and 2,100 sq ft to the FP7000MT. In a loose house, none covers 2,000 sq ft. The tool in section 03 does the math.
A Source 1 humidifier with a heat pump?
YORK’s brochure names only the BP4000MT for heat pumps: their air is cooler than gas-furnace air, and it then delivers about 60% of its rated capacity. It says nothing about the other models: we check in the quote.
How often should the pad be changed?
Once a year, except on the BP4000MT: at least twice per heating season, per the manual. Pads: S1-HUPAD10 (BP5000MT), S1-HUPAD45 (BP4000MT), S1-HUPAD35 (BP6000MT and FP7000MT).
What comes in the box?
According to the technical guide: a manual humidistat, a saddle valve, an installation template and the manual. The three bypass units also come with a 24 V transformer.
What is the warranty?
Limited 5-year parts warranty. Labour, shipping and material are not covered. It applies to the original purchaser. Without a returned registration card (humidifiers) or an installation receipt (dehumidifiers), it starts when the manufacturer ships the unit.
Is there a rebate?
Not in 2026: LogisVert and Rénoclimat do not cover these units, and no Source 1 dehumidifier is on the ENERGY STAR list (checked Oct. 20, 2026).
What capacity do the CVD dehumidifiers have?
The technical table on YORK’s page gives 80, 100 and 130 pints per day. The title of the same page says 70, 95 and 130: we confirm the exact model and its sheet in the quote.
What does CVD stand for?
“Central Ventilating Dehumidifier”, according to the title of a YORK manual linked from the dehumidifier page.
