Maximum fuse at 4 and 5 tons
20 A at 1.5 and 2 tons, 30 A at 2.5 and 3 tons, per the brochure.
01/08The 4CDH replaces your electric furnace with a complete system: the side-discharge outdoor unit and the 4CDH indoor unit, with optional 5 to 25 kW electric elements. R-454B refrigerant, heating down to -30°C, wired Wi-Fi controller included, checked LogisVert from $1,800 to $5,400.

CanAir supplies the central heat pump and its warranty. AirGreen checks your ducts and panel, installs the system and keeps your dates on file.
The result: the right 4CDH size for your house, installed on your ducts by AirGreen.
The outdoor unit draws heat from outside, even in deep cold. The indoor unit blows it through your ducts. The electric elements top up when needed.
Side discharge, R-454B. It draws heat from outside and heats down to -30°C, per CanAir.
Multi-position (up, down, left, right), constant-airflow ECM motor. It blows the heat through your ducts; the optional electric elements top up when needed.
Included with the central system, per the brochure. The board also accepts a 24 V thermostat.
Switch between heating and cooling: the drawing shows where the heat goes. The numbers follow the steps on the right.
Operating ranges, side discharge, ECM motor and optional elements: CanAir 4CDH brochure (July 18, 2025 revision). Simplified drawing: your duct layout is surveyed at the visit.
Pick your current furnace: we show you the CanAir system that fits.
Two paths. The 4CDH central system replaces your furnace: its indoor unit has its own electric elements. The add-on keeps your furnace and adds a CanAir coil to it. We compare both at the visit.
The add-on. It keeps your furnace and adds a CanAir coil: the heat pump heats, the furnace takes over when needed. We install the heat pump and the coil; we don’t touch the burner or the gas or oil supply.
Without ductwork, a wall unit heats one room and a 4C28 multi-zone heats up to six, with a single outdoor unit.
One AHRI number covers the outdoor and indoor units: it’s one system.

Capacity at -8°C (the 17°F point LogisVert uses) and SEER2: ENERGY STAR, Oct. 8, 2026. HSPF2 (region IV) and heating at -15°C: CanAir 4CDH brochure, same values as ENERGY STAR. In cooling, the 2-ton is 23,000 BTU/h and the 5-ton 54,000 BTU/h, per the brochure. The two heating points are not measured under the same conditions: the -15°C value can be higher than the -8°C one.
Central systems are sold in tons. Here is where the unit comes from, and what each 4CDH really delivers.
2,000 lb × 144 BTU/lb ÷ 24 h = 12,000 BTU/h
The word comes from ice: melting one short ton of ice (2,000 lb) in 24 hours absorbs 12,000 BTU per hour. A “3-ton heat pump” therefore moves, in theory, 36,000 BTU/h.
Compare with the real figures of each 4CDH:
Heat of fusion of ice: 144 BTU per pound. Rated capacities: CanAir 4CDH brochure (July 18, 2025 revision). The 2-ton cools at 23,000 BTU/h and the 5-ton at 54,000: tons are a size class, not an exact measurement.
Rated heating capacity is measured in mild weather. Here is what each 4CDH keeps at -15°C, and its COP at that temperature.
At -15°C, the 1.5-ton keeps 94.7% of its rated heating capacity.
At -15°C, the 2-ton keeps 90% of its rated heating capacity.
At -15°C, the 2.5-ton keeps 95.9% of its rated heating capacity.
At -15°C, the 3-ton gives 39,000 BTU/h, more than its rated heating capacity.
At -15°C, the 4-ton keeps 92% of its rated heating capacity.
At -15°C, the 5-ton keeps 92.9% of its rated heating capacity.
Rated heating capacity, capacity at -15°C and COP at -15°C: CanAir 4CDH brochure (July 18, 2025 revision), outdoor unit tables.
Amounts from Hydro-Québec’s list of October 8, 2026: $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C, ENERGY STAR cold-climate system. The “electric furnace” page carries the same AHRI number: one amount per system.

The LogisVert guide (version 1.10, September 15, 2026) requires an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump, an outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h and an application within 9 months of installation. The grant never exceeds 100% of the cost before taxes.
Slide the length and height difference: the tool compares your case with the limits published for each 4CDH. Handy when the outdoor unit has to sit far from the indoor unit, or on a flat roof.
CanAir 4CDH brochure (July 18, 2025 revision), maximum length and height difference: 98.4 ft and 65.6 ft at 1.5 tons, 164 ft and 82 ft at 2 and 2.5 tons, 246 ft and 98.4 ft from 3 to 5 tons. The real length is measured at the visit.
Tons aren’t picked at random. At the visit, we look at three things.
Floor area, windows, insulation and storeys: that’s what sets the heating capacity you need.
The indoor unit’s airflow has to get through: from 618 to 1,807 CFM at top speed depending on size, per the brochure.
The electric elements go up to 25 kW: we check the panel’s capacity. AirGreen holds RBQ subclass 16 (electricity).
From ice tons to the multi-unit amount. Scroll through.
20 A at 1.5 and 2 tons, 30 A at 2.5 and 3 tons, per the brochure.
01/08In cooling, the 4CDH 2-ton is rated 23,000 BTU/h, and the 5-ton, 54,000.
02/08From 59 dB(A) at 1.5 tons to 65 dB(A) at 4 and 5 tons, per the brochure.
03/08The highest of the 4CDH range in Region V, the coldest (8.0 to 8.6 depending on size).
04/08The constant-airflow ECM motor holds up to 0.8 in. of water static pressure.
05/08The 4CDH central system comes with a wired Wi-Fi controller; its board also accepts a 24 V thermostat.
06/08For an electrically heated multi-unit building, LogisVert provides $220 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8°C since June 15, 2026, not combinable with other bonuses. The list then shows $9,900 for the 5-ton.
07/08CanAir presents the 4CDH as a side-discharge system: in the usual sense, the outdoor unit blows its air out the side, not the top.
08/08Tap a card: the definition, then the 4CDH figure.

From the South Shore to the Laurentians, and a 4CDH in Rougemont.
The side-discharge 4CDH outdoor unit, the 4CDH indoor unit and a wired Wi-Fi controller, per the CanAir brochure. The 5 to 25 kW electric elements are optional.
Down to -30°C, per the CanAir 4CDH brochure (heating range -30°C to 24°C).
From $1,800 (1.5 tons) to $5,400 (5 tons), per Hydro-Québec’s list of October 8, 2026. Math: capacity at -8°C × $120 per 1,000 BTU/h.
That’s the idea: the 4CDH blows through your existing ducts. At the visit, we check they can carry the airflow of the chosen size.
A 12,000 BTU/h size class, inherited from ice: the heat absorbed each hour when 2,000 lb of ice melts over a day. The 4CDH’s real capacities are in the brochure.
Look at the add-on instead: it keeps your furnace and adds a CanAir coil. We don’t touch the burner or the gas or oil supply.
No hardware difference: the “electric furnace” is the 4CDH indoor unit, sold on its own product page. The LogisVert amount only applies to the complete system (4CDH outdoor and indoor units), under the pair’s AHRI number.
10 years on the compressor and parts for residential use, per the CanAir base warranty. Labour coverage depends on the sale date: we confirm it in writing in the quote.
