This page answers

For anyone with a forced-air furnace that still works well who wants a heat pump without replacing it: which coil fits your furnace, who heats when, and what LogisVert says about it.

The CanAir shop · add-on

The 18 add-on combinations, right below.

One page per heat pump + coil combination, with its AHRI number and indicative LogisVert amount.

01 · The match

Your furnace, a size, a generation: here are the coils that sit on it.

The cased coil sits on top of your furnace. Pick its width, the heat pump size and the generation: the tool returns the exact combinations, with their AHRI number and LogisVert amount.

Coils, dimensions (W × D × H) and weights: CanAir 4CDH brochure (revised July 18, 2025, pp. 8-9) and CDH R-410A brochure (February 20, 2025). The 4CDH brochure prints the CEB-24MX1421 at 24½ in. wide in the 2-ton row; the same model is 14½ in. in the 1.5-ton row: we keep 14½ in. and confirm it on the quote. Weights as printed: the brochure sometimes gives two for the same coil, depending on the row. Heat at -15 °C: ENERGY STAR. LogisVert: Hydro-Québec list of Oct. 27, 2026.

02 · Who heats when

Above the switch-over, the heat pump. Below it, your furnace.

Both units share the same ducts. Pick an example switch-over point, slide the temperature: we show you which one heats the house.

No published value. The CanAir 4CDH and CDH brochures give no switch-over point. It is set on the thermostat at installation, with you. Since the heat pump heats down to -30 °C, the switch-over is a choice of comfort, cost and output in deep cold, not a limit of the unit.

Heating ranges: CanAir 4CDH brochure (revised July 18, 2025) and CDH R-410A brochure (February 20, 2025). Heat at -15 °C: ENERGY STAR (16 certified combinations). At -30 °C: NEEP, read October 27, 2026 (2, 3, 4 and 5-ton 4CDH).

03 · 4CDH or CDH

Two generations of heat pumps for the same furnace.

Same idea, same pairing: what changes is the refrigerant, the widths on offer, and what LogisVert makes of it.

04 · LogisVert

An add-on to a furnace: what the LogisVert guide requires.

Four questions, our answers from the guide in force. The amount follows the heat pump + coil combination: one AHRI number, one amount.

Where is your home?

Where will the furnace, and so the coil, be?

What is being installed?

Your furnace runs on…

LogisVert residential participation guide, version 1.10, September 15, 2026: heat pump measure (Appendix I), non-eligible work, autonomous grids, 9-month deadline (§ 2.5), 100% of pre-tax cost cap (§ 2.7). The guide does not exclude a heat pump added to a gas or oil furnace on the main grid: that is our reading, not a Hydro-Québec decision. Have LogisVert confirm it at 1 833 396-1888. Amounts: list of Oct. 27, 2026, $120 per 1,000 BTU/h at -8 °C.

05 · Who does what

The heat pump and the coil are ours. The burner, never.

An add-on touches two worlds: refrigeration and combustion. Here is the line between them.

RBQ 5645-9605-01

AirGreen

Subclasses 15.8 (ventilation), 15.10 (refrigeration) and 16 (electrical).

  • The CanAir outdoor unit, on its pad or bracket
  • The cased coil, set on the furnace
  • The refrigerant line between them, and the start-up
  • The heat pump’s electrical hookup (subclass 16)
  • The AHRI number and indicative LogisVert amount on the quote

Licensed partner

A contractor holding the required gas or oil licence. AirGreen does not work on these parts: if your furnace needs it, that partner handles it.

  • The gas or oil burner
  • The gas line and the oil tank
  • The chimney and flue venting
  • Any work on the furnace’s combustion side
06 · Questions

What people ask us about the add-on.

Do I have to replace my furnace?
No. That is the point of an add-on: your forced-air furnace stays in place, we set a CanAir coil on it and connect it to the outdoor unit. If your furnace is electric and near the end of its life, the 4CDH electric furnace page shows the other route.
My furnace runs on gas: can AirGreen do the job?
Yes for the heat pump, the coil and the heat pump’s electrical hookup. No for the burner, the gas line, the oil tank or the chimney: a partner holding the required licence handles them if needed.
Does LogisVert pay for an add-on to a gas or oil furnace?
On the main grid, the guide in force does not exclude it: that is our reading, to be confirmed by LogisVert (1 833 396-1888). There is no aid on an autonomous grid when the heat pump is added to a fuel-fired system.
Which coil width do I need?
The one that fits your furnace cabinet. CanAir offers 14½, 17½, 21 and 24½ in. depending on the heat pump size. We measure the furnace on site.
Who decides when the furnace takes over?
It is set on the thermostat at installation, with you. The CanAir 4CDH and CDH brochures publish no switch-over point.
Why do the 4 and 5-ton CDH have no LogisVert amount?
The two combinations we offer, with the MAC-48HWFN1-M and MAC-60HWFN1-M coils, are not ENERGY STAR certified and are not on Hydro-Québec’s list of Oct. 27, 2026. In 4 and 5 tons, the 4CDH has an indicative amount: $4,128, then $4,320 to $4,536.
Can I replace just the coil?
That would be a part replacement, not an add-on. For LogisVert, replacing a single coil is not eligible: the amount follows the heat pump and its coil, installed together.
What warranty comes with a CanAir add-on?
10 years on the compressor and parts for residential use, per CanAir’s CDH and 4CDH base warranty. Labour is confirmed in writing on the quote.
