COMFORTMAKER // Performance

COMFORTMAKER Performance wall heat pump (DLCERA): the entry-level series, with your baseboards

The entry-level series publishes its limit: −17 Â°C. Below that, your baseboards heat on their own (AirGreen’s view).

Three sizes, from 9,000 to 18,000 BTU/h. At −8.3 Â°C, the Performance and SoftSound 9,000 publish the same rated output, 7,500 BTU/h; at −15 Â°C, the Performance publishes 6,070 BTU/h at most, the SoftSound 10,700.

05 // Good to know

Good to know before the on-site assessment

The −17 Â°C floor, stated plainly

The catalogue publishes a heating range of −17 to 30 Â°C for all three sizes. In Montreal, the 1981–2010 normals count 62.9 days a year below −10 Â°C and 14.3 below −20 Â°C; they give no −17 Â°C step, and we do not invent one. With baseboards in place, the Performance heats within its published range; your baseboards top up whenever the heat pump falls short, and heat on their own below −17 Â°C (AirGreen’s view).

What changes on the 18,000

The 18,000 has a 974 × 325 × 225 mm head. Its circuit: a 15 A MCA and a 20 A max fuse. Its refrigerant lines can run up to 30 m, with 20 m of lift, and it takes the KSAIF0201AAA Wi-Fi kit. The 9,000 and 12,000 stop at 25 m and 10 m of lift, with the KSAIF0101AAA kit.

06 // Warranty

The COMFORTMAKER warranty on the Performance

  • 10 years on parts (limited warranty) for the original owner, in residential use, when the unit is registered within 90 days of installation.
  • Without that registration: 5 years on parts.
  • Subsequent owners: the rest of the first five years.
  • Where the law forbids tying the warranty to registration, registration is not required.
  • COMFORTMAKER does not cover labour.

The full terms are in the unit’s warranty certificate.

07 // Questions

The questions we get

Can the Performance heat a room on its own in Montreal?

We do not offer it as the only heat in a room: its published heating range stops at −17 Â°C, and Montreal’s 1981–2010 normals (station 7025250) count 14.3 days a year below −20 Â°C, with an average daily minimum of −14.0 Â°C in January. With your baseboards, it heats within its published range; your baseboards top up whenever the heat pump falls short, and heat on their own below −17 Â°C (AirGreen’s view).

How much heat does the Performance give at −15 Â°C?

At most 6,070 BTU/h (9,000), 8,880 BTU/h (12,000) and 10,150 BTU/h (18,000), about 1.8, 2.6 and 3.0 kW (AirGreen calculation, 1 kW = 3,412 BTU/h).

Is the Performance noisy?

The head publishes 31 to 42 dB(A) on the 9,000, 34 to 43 dB(A) on the 12,000 and 34 to 46 dB(A) on the 18,000; the outdoor unit, 57.0 to 57.4 dB(A). QuĂ©bec.ca (“Noise measurement”, updated June 16, 2022) puts 40 dB(A) at “library, refrigerator, a quiet street at night”, “a peaceful area”, and 50 dB(A) at “moderate rain, washing machine”, “the beginning of disturbance”. The test conditions are not published by COMFORTMAKER, so read these markers as a rough guide.

Does the Performance come with Wi-Fi?

No. It is added with a kit sold as an accessory: KSAIF0101AAA for the 9,000 and 12,000, KSAIF0201AAA for the 18,000.

What warranty comes with the Performance?

10 years on parts (limited warranty) when the unit is registered within 90 days of installation, otherwise 5 years, for the original owner in residential use. COMFORTMAKER does not cover labour.

How much does an installed Performance cost?

On quotation. The on-site assessment is free with no obligation, and we look at your baseboards during that visit too.
