04Three questions, one lead
A first direction, not a sizing: the size is decided at the quotation.
1. Does the home have air ducts?
Our lead
Answer the questions
The lead appears here after the first answer.
The central route
05CSH6 and FXM4X fan coil: for a home with ducts
The CSH6 is the outdoor heat pump; the FXM4X is the indoor unit that blows air through the ducts. Backup electric heat comes from a kit installed in the FXM4X.
- CSH6 outdoors: single-stage heat pump, SEER 16, R-410A.
- Refrigerant lines between the two units.
- FXM4X indoors: fan coil, with a 5 to 30 kW EHK electric kit.
- Ducts warm or cool air goes through the whole house.
The FXM4X is sold on our site as an “electric furnace”: the manufacturer describes it as a multi-position fan coil with an ECM motor and a factory TXV.

07LogisVert: what Hydro-Québec’s list says
Hydro-Québec publishes the list of eligible heat pumps. We checked every AHRI number on our Comfortmaker sheets on October 13, 2026.
Since November 26, 2025, the heat pump must be ENERGY STAR certified (guide v1.10).
Based on capacity at -8 °C: $120 if the unit is ENERGY STAR “cold climate”. Outdoor unit of at least 12,000 BTU/h.
The claim is filed no later than 9 months after installation, never more than 100% of the pre-tax cost.
6 system(s) shown out of 17 AHRI numbers. None appears on Hydro-Québec’s list of October 13, 2026.
