Sharp CU in dark grey: the wall unit that blends into a dark wall.
Sharp offers its Dark Gray finish on the CU 15,000 and CU 18,000; on our site it’s the CU “black”. Same figures as the white one: down to -30°C, and $2,172 or $2,688 in LogisVert. The 18,000 is the only dark grey head Sharp plans for its multi-zone. We install it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.
Where do the dark grey CU units rank in the cold?
Maximum heating output per unit, at the size shown. -8°C and -15°C: ENERGY STAR (17°F and 5°F). -20°C to -30°C: Sharp submittal sheets, January 2026 (FilterSweep: May 2026; Airest: June 2025). The rank in brackets is the rank at -8°C.

On-screen colours are a guide only: the real shade changes with the room’s lighting.

The bars show maximum heat by outdoor temperature. Switch to white to compare: the figures don’t change.

The only dark grey head on Sharp’s multi-zone.
The AY-XPC18CU-B head connects to the AE-X3M24CU compressor. With two rooms, Sharp plans for example 18,000 + 18,000 (13,000 BTU/h each) or 18,000 + 12,000 (15,600 and 10,400). With three rooms, Sharp plans only 9,000 or 12,000 heads, which come in white. The CU multi-zone is coming soon to AirGreen.

How Sharp describes its ions
A small electrical discharge produces positive and negative ions surrounded by water molecules.
On a surface, these ions combine into OH radicals.
According to Sharp, these radicals remove hydrogen from surface proteins, which reduces their activity.

Green marks the better value on each line.

Sharp made the CU in dark grey for walls that don’t suit white. We mount it level, with the line hidden as much as the wall allows, because a dark front shows everything.
