Quick facts
The copper pipe clamp secures copper piping to a wall, a joist or the structure. It comes in eight diameters, from 1/4 in to 1-3/8 in, for heat pump refrigerant lines as well as mechanical room piping.
Why a refrigerant line needs proper support
A copper line left unsupported sags between its support points. Compressor vibration travels along it, the tube rubs against the wall and the fittings flex at every start-up. Over time, that is where leaks appear. Clamps installed at regular intervals keep the line straight, stable and quiet.
Eight diameters
The clamp is available for 1/4 in, 3/8 in, 1/2 in, 5/8 in, 3/4 in, 7/8 in, 1-1/8 in and 1-3/8 in piping. Choose the diameter based on the tube you are securing. Each size has its own AirGreen code, shown under the title when you select it.
Good fastening practices
- Space the clamps evenly, a little closer together on small diameters.
- Add a clamp near every elbow and every fitting.
- On an insulated line, do not compress the insulation: it would lose its effectiveness.
- Keep the copper away from contact with any other metal that could corrode it.

Straight, well-held piping
A poorly supported copper line sags, vibrates and ends up straining its fittings.

Frequently asked questions
Which size do I need?
The size of the copper tube you are securing. A 3/8 in line takes a 3/8 in clamp.
How far apart should clamps go?
At regular intervals along the run, closer together on small sizes, and near elbows and fittings. The equipment manual sometimes gives a specific spacing.
Can I use it on an insulated line?
Yes, as long as the insulation is not crushed. An insulated line is fastened without compressing the foam.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our technicians secure the refrigerant piping on every heat pump installation, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
