Quick facts
Heating and hot water for a home or a small business: the 15 kW ComboMax Ultra 70
One appliance, two uses, in a commercial space too
A ground-floor hair salon, a professional office, a large family home: these places share hot-water heating and a high demand for hot water. Thermo 2000’s 15 kW ComboMax Ultra 70 handles both with a single appliance. The manufacturer covers it for both uses: 15 years on the tank and coils in residential use, 10 years in commercial use, and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components.
The principle is the series’ own. The 71 US gal tank holds the heating water, sent through the loop to the radiators or radiant floor. Drinking water flows through parallel copper coils immersed in that water, and comes out hot without ever being stored.
The numbers that matter
For hot water, Thermo 2000 publishes 84 US gal in 10 minutes and 157 US gal in one hour, for water delivered at 110 °F, cold water at 40 °F and boiler water at 180 °F. According to the manufacturer, water arrives hot in under 7 seconds, and the absence of storage reduces the risk of Legionella.
For heating, four elements (two of 3 kW, two of 4.5 kW) are added over four stages, up to 51,180 BTU/h at 240 V. The T2 UltraSmart controller, with a backlit display, gives priority to domestic hot water and runs the heating pump when the thermostat calls.
Before installation
A 240 V single-phase circuit with an 80 A breaker and Cu 6 or Al 4 wire is required. If the building is supplied at 208 V, output is multiplied by 0.75 and current by 0.867, according to the manufacturer. The unit is 70 1/2 in high and 24 in in diameter and weighs 430 lb empty. The heating loop connects in 1 1/4 in male NPT, domestic water in 3/4 in female NPT, with maximum pressures of 30 psi (207 kPa) and 125 psi.
AirGreen handles the project
Whether the space is in Montreal, Laval or Longueuil, or the home on the South Shore or the North Shore, we start with a free on-site estimate. We assess the heating load, the expected hot water use, the electrical service and the location. The written quote describes the unit, the 80 A circuit, the loop components and the work schedule, which we plan to limit disruption to your activities.
On installation, the unit is set in place and connected, by qualified personnel, to the heating loop and to domestic water. The accessories supplied by Thermo 2000, including the thermostatic mixing valve, the 12 psi pressure regulator and the check valve, are largely already mounted. We make the electrical connection, fill and purge the loop, set the controller and check each stage as well as the water temperature.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical).
