Quick facts
The largest Mini ULTRA: 12 kW in a 47 lb wall-mounted unit
12 kW, two 6 kW elements
More output does not mean a bigger format. Thermo 2000’s Mini ULTRA 12 keeps the series’ wall-mounted unit, 1 US gal of water and 47 lb when shipped, and fits two 6 kW elements wired on two stages. It produces 40,944 BTU/h at 240 V, according to the manufacturer.
This is the size to consider for a house heated by radiators or hydronic baseboards, for a radiant floor covering several rooms, or to replace a bulkier electric boiler on an existing loop.
As back-up for an air-to-water heat pump, or as the main heat source
Thermo 2000 presents the Mini ULTRA as a back-up for an air-to-water heat pump, a geothermal system or solar collectors. In that role, the boiler takes over during the deep cold of January, when the main source is no longer enough. It can also heat on its own, on thermostat demand. Either way, the T2 UltraSmart controller adjusts the water temperature to the supplied outdoor sensor, with a MIN, STD or MAX curve, and shuts the heat off in mild weather.
A 70 A circuit to plan for
At this size, electricity is the first thing to check. Thermo 2000 specifies a 70 A breaker and Cu 6 / Al 4 wire at 240 V; the boiler draws 50.0 A at full output. In many homes in Montreal, Laval and on the North Shore, the panel already carries a water heater, a range and sometimes an EV charger: we look at the actual capacity before proposing this model. On 208 V, the output becomes 9 kW at 43.5 A.
On the hydronic side, the loop must provide 8.2 US gpm at a 10 °F ΔT, or 4.1 US gpm at a 20 °F ΔT, and respect the 30 psi maximum working pressure.
AirGreen’s installation
After a free on-site estimate, you receive a written quote that includes the circulator and expansion tank, which are not supplied with the boiler. Our technicians mount the unit on the wall, connect it through its 3/4 in female NPT connections, install the 30 psi relief valve, temperature and pressure gauge and drain valve, then mount the outdoor sensor. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical) and makes the electrical connection. Start-up includes filling, purging and setting the controller.
Our family business has been established in Montreal for more than fifteen years and also installs in Longueuil and on the South Shore. Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).

Frequently asked questions
Can my electrical panel take this boiler?
It needs a 70 A breaker and Cu 6 or Al 4 wire at 240 V, and draws 50.0 A at full output. We check the panel and the electrical service during the estimate, and tell you before the quote if an upgrade is needed.
Can it back up an air-to-water heat pump?
Yes, Thermo 2000 presents the Mini ULTRA as a back-up for a heat pump or a geothermal system. The connection depends on the heat pump and its controls: we plan it during the estimate.
What does it deliver in a 208 V building?
9 kW at 43.5 A, according to the manufacturer. We choose the size using that output.
What flow must the loop provide?
8.2 US gpm for a 10 °F difference between supply and return, or 4.1 US gpm for a 20 °F difference. The pressure drop through the boiler is negligible, according to Thermo 2000.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components (parts).
