Quick facts
3 kW of hot-water heat that fits on a wall and on a 20 A circuit
The smallest Mini ULTRA, for a single loop
The Mini ULTRA 3 is the entry size of Thermo 2000’s Mini ULTRA series. This wall-mounted electric boiler heats the water of a hydronic circuit: radiant floor, radiators or hot-water baseboards. It runs on a single 3 kW element, in one stage, and produces 10,236 BTU/h at 240 V according to the manufacturer.
This size is meant for projects where the heating load stays small. Think of a finished basement whose slab carries a radiant floor, a garage you want to keep at a steady temperature, a small condo heated by hydronic baseboards, or an added room with its own loop. Thermo 2000 also presents it as a possible back-up for an air-to-water heat pump or a geothermal system.
All the heat is electric: the unit produces no GHG emissions on site. It holds only 1 US gal of water and weighs 47 lb when shipped. It hangs on a wall, in the basement or in a mechanical closet, and leaves the floor free.
An electrical load that is easy to fit in
In many homes in Montreal, Laval or Longueuil, the electrical panel has little room left. The Mini ULTRA 3 draws 12.5 A at full output, and Thermo 2000 specifies a 20 A breaker with Cu 12 or Al 10 wire at 240 V. If the building is supplied at 208 V, as some apartment buildings are, the output drops to 2.2 kW (10.9 A). We factor that in from the load calculation on.
The T2 UltraSmart controller handles day-to-day comfort. It offers presets by distribution system, then adjusts the water temperature to the outdoor temperature with the supplied sensor, using three curves (MIN, STD and MAX). In mild weather it shuts the heat off; when a room needs to warm up faster, Boost mode takes over. The water temperature can be set from 50 °F to 190 °F.
What AirGreen’s installation covers
Everything starts with a free on-site estimate. We look at the hot-water loop, the electrical panel and the wall the boiler will hang on, then give you a written quote. It lists the circulator and expansion tank to plan for, since they are not among the parts Thermo 2000 supplies.
On installation day, our technicians mount the unit and connect it to the loop through its 3/4 in NPT connections. They install the supplied 30 psi relief valve, temperature and pressure gauge and drain valve, mount the outdoor sensor, then make the electrical connection. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We fill and purge the loop, set the controller curve and show you how to read the display.
We are a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. Our crews work across Greater Montreal, on the South Shore as well as the North Shore.
Let’s talk about your project
A basement floor to warm up, a garage to keep above freezing or a small loop to replace: tell us about your situation and we will tell you whether the Mini ULTRA 3 is the right size.
Ask for your free estimate: we confirm the size, you receive a written quote, and financing is available to spread out your payments.
A small heat source for a single hot-water loop
The Mini ULTRA 3 mounts on a wall and heats the water of a hydronic circuit: radiant floor, radiators or hot-water baseboards. With a single 3 kW element, it is the smallest size in the Mini ULTRA series.
- Radiant floor in a finished basement or a garage
- Condo or small dwelling heated by hydronic baseboards
- Added room or extension on its own hot-water loop
- Back-up for an air-to-water heat pump or a geothermal system
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Dedicated 240 V single-phase, 60 Hz circuit: Thermo 2000 specifies a 20 A breaker and Cu 12 / Al 10 wire.
- On 208 V, the Mini ULTRA 3 delivers 2.2 kW (10.9 A), according to the manufacturer.
- Maximum working pressure of 30 psi (207 kPa), with the supplied 30 psi relief valve: the loop must be designed for this pressure.
- The circulator and the expansion tank are not on the list of supplied parts: we include them in the quote.
- Water flow given by the manufacturer: 2.0 US gpm at a 10 °F ΔT, or 1.0 US gpm at a 20 °F ΔT.
- 30 psi relief valve
- Drain valve
- Temperature and pressure gauge
- Outdoor temperature sensor
- Installation manual

Frequently asked questions
Is a 3 kW boiler enough for my project?
It suits a modest heating load: a basement radiant floor, a garage, a small condo or an added room. A whole house often needs a larger size in the series. We do the calculation during the free estimate.
What electrical protection is needed?
Thermo 2000 specifies a 20 A breaker and Cu 12 or Al 10 wire at 240 V. We check the room left in your panel before confirming the quote.
My building is supplied at 208 V. Is that an obstacle?
No, but the output drops: at 208 V, the Mini ULTRA 3 delivers 2.2 kW and draws 10.9 A, according to the manufacturer. We take it into account when choosing the size.
Is the circulator supplied?
No. Thermo 2000 supplies the relief valve, drain valve, temperature and pressure gauge, outdoor sensor and manual. The circulator and expansion tank are included in our quote.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).
