Quick facts
9 kW on the wall: a small house heated with hot water, without losing floor space
A 9 kW boiler in a 47 lb unit
Thermo 2000’s Mini ULTRA 9 keeps the series’ compact format, with 1 US gal of water and 47 lb when shipped, but fits two 4.5 kW elements wired on two stages. The result: 9 kW, or 30,708 BTU/h at 240 V according to the manufacturer, enough to feed the radiators, hydronic baseboards or radiant floor of a small house.
It is meant for homeowners who want all-electric hot-water heating, with no GHG emissions on site, in a mechanical room where space is tight. The flexible connections and multi-position mounting Thermo 2000 provides make wall installation easier, next to the water heater or the electrical panel. The manufacturer also presents it as a back-up for a geothermal or solar system.
What to check in a Quebec house
A 9 kW boiler needs a serious circuit. Thermo 2000 specifies a 50 A breaker and Cu 8 / Al 6 wire at 240 V; the unit draws 37.5 A at full output. In a house that already has an electric range, dryer and water heater, the panel must be able to take this load. If the supply is 208 V, the output becomes 6.7 kW (32.6 A): a detail that sometimes changes the size to choose.
The water loop matters just as much. It must provide 6.1 US gpm at a 10 °F ΔT, or 3.0 US gpm at a 20 °F ΔT, and stay within the 30 psi maximum working pressure. The T2 UltraSmart controller handles the rest: it reads the supplied outdoor sensor, sets the water temperature along a MIN, STD or MAX curve, and shuts the heat off in mild weather. Whether you live in Laval, Longueuil or on the North Shore, these checks are part of our visit.
What we do on installation day
Before the work, you receive a written quote, prepared after a free on-site estimate. It includes the circulator and expansion tank, which are not supplied with the boiler. On the day, our technicians:
- mount the boiler on the wall and connect it to the loop through its 3/4 in female NPT connections;
- install the supplied 30 psi relief valve, temperature and pressure gauge and drain valve;
- mount the outdoor sensor and make the electrical connection, under AirGreen’s RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical);
- fill, purge and set the controller for your distribution system.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, and we also serve the whole South Shore. Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).

Frequently asked questions
Can a Mini ULTRA 9 heat my whole house?
It produces 30,708 BTU/h at 240 V. Depending on its size and insulation, a small house can be well served by this size, but only a heat-loss calculation confirms it. We do it during the free estimate.
What electrical protection is needed?
A 50 A breaker and Cu 8 or Al 6 wire at 240 V, according to Thermo 2000. The boiler draws 37.5 A at full output.
What if the house is supplied at 208 V?
The output becomes 6.7 kW at 32.6 A, according to the manufacturer. We then choose the size using that value.
How much room does it need?
A wall location for a unit measuring 21 1/2, 8 7/8 and 8 3/4 in and weighing 47 lb when shipped, plus space for the connections and the circulator.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components (parts).
