Quick facts
4.5 kW of hot water for a radiant floor, right from the wall
Who the Mini ULTRA 4.5 is for
A basement with a cold floor, a workshop you would like to use in January, a plex dwelling heated by a few hot-water baseboards: these are the situations where Thermo 2000’s Mini ULTRA 4.5 belongs. This wall-mounted electric boiler runs on a single 4.5 kW element and produces 15,354 BTU/h at 240 V, according to the manufacturer.
It heats the water of a hydronic circuit, whether a radiant floor, radiators or baseboards. Thermo 2000 also presents it as a back-up for a geothermal or solar system. Like the whole Mini ULTRA series, it emits no GHG on site and needs little maintenance.
A cold basement, a floor that stays warm
In Quebec, many basements sit on a concrete slab that stays cool all winter. A radiant floor fed by a small electric boiler deals with that comfort issue at the source, without forced air and without blower noise. Thermo 2000 highlights the Mini ULTRA’s quiet operation, designed for condos, houses, basements and garages.
The T2 UltraSmart controller reads the supplied outdoor sensor and adjusts the water temperature to the weather, using a MIN, STD or MAX curve. A slab does not need water as hot as a cast-iron radiator does, and that is what the presets by distribution system are for. The controller also shuts the heat off in mild weather and runs a pump purge.
On the electrical side, plan for a dedicated 240 V circuit with a 30 A breaker and Cu 10 / Al 10 wire. At 208 V, the output becomes 3.4 kW (16.3 A). Whether the house is in Laval, on the North Shore or in a Montreal plex, we check the voltage and the panel capacity before recommending this size.
Your installation, step by step
- Free on-site estimate: the water loop, the area to heat, the panel and the mounting wall.
- Written quote, including the circulator and expansion tank, which are not among the supplied parts.
- Wall mounting of the boiler, connection to the loop through the 3/4 in female NPT connections, and installation of the 30 psi relief valve, temperature and pressure gauge and drain valve.
- Electrical connection and outdoor sensor installation. AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.
- Filling, purging and setting the controller for your distribution system.
The loop must respect the unit’s 30 psi maximum working pressure and provide the flow Thermo 2000 specifies: 3.0 US gpm at a 10 °F ΔT, or 1.5 US gpm at a 20 °F ΔT. We size the circulator accordingly.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years. We also install in Longueuil and throughout the South Shore.

Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from the Mini ULTRA 3?
Both have a single element and the same wall-mounted cabinet. The Mini ULTRA 4.5 has a 4.5 kW element instead of 3 kW: it heats a somewhat larger area, but needs a 30 A breaker and Cu 10 / Al 10 wire.
What water flow does the loop need?
Thermo 2000 gives 3.0 US gpm for a 10 °F difference between supply and return, or 1.5 US gpm for a 20 °F difference. The pressure drop through the boiler is negligible.
What does it deliver on 208 V?
According to the manufacturer, 3.4 kW at 16.3 A. If your building is on 208 V, we choose the size based on this reduced output.
Is it noisy?
Thermo 2000 highlights quiet operation, suited to condos, houses, basements and garages. The heat comes through the hot-water loop: floor, radiators or baseboards.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
15 years on the tank and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components (parts), according to the manufacturer.
