Quick facts
Replace your 2-ton central air conditioner with a unit that configures itself
When the old air conditioner gives out
In a cottage or a split-level home heated by an electric furnace, the 2-ton central air conditioner is often the first unit to fail. Arcoaire’s HSA624GKA takes its place outdoors. It belongs to the HSA6 series, the manufacturer’s premium single-stage line, and runs on R-410A with a single-stage scroll compressor insulated by a sound blanket.
Its nominal size is 24,000 BTU/h. For the published reference combination, with a *EN(A,D)4X31*17** coil and a TXV, Arcoaire lists 23,800 BTU/h, 14.5 SEER and 12.0 EER at 95°F. The manufacturer advertises up to 16 SEER with other matches. These SEER ratings predate the SEER2 standard: they do not compare directly with the SEER2 ratings of newer units.
A control that does the configuration work
What sets the HSA6 series apart is communication with the Ion control (SYST0101CW, sold separately). Connected to that control, the outdoor unit runs in communicating mode and configures itself. The manufacturer also provides for operation with a non-communicating thermostat, which it actually requires for cooling below 55°F (12.8°C), together with low-ambient accessories.
The rest of the system is conventional: an indoor coil, set on the electric furnace or housed in an air handler, cools the air that the blower pushes through the ductwork. Heating remains the furnace’s job. This air conditioner does not heat and, sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
The HSA6 series is no longer produced by the manufacturer: this unit is available while supplies last. Arcoaire backs it with a 5-year No Hassle Replacement limited warranty and a 5-year parts limited warranty, extended by 5 years with timely registration; in Quebec, the certificate states that registration cannot be a condition.
Installation, from estimate to commissioning
AirGreen, a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We start with a free on-site estimate to confirm that 2 tons suits the home and to choose the coil compatible with your electric furnace or air handler.
We then check the electrical panel: the unit needs a 208/230 V circuit with a time-delay fuse or breaker of 25 A maximum. Our technicians remove the old unit, set the new one, install the refrigerant lines within the lengths the manufacturer allows, then commission the system. We serve Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.

Replacing a 2-ton central air conditioner
The HSA624GKA takes the place of a central air conditioner’s outdoor unit. Matched with a coil on your electric furnace or inside an air handler, it cools the air that then travels through the home’s ductwork.
- Replacing a 2-ton central air conditioner at the end of its life
- Cottages and split-level homes heated by an electric furnace
- Systems that will use the Ion communicating control
- Adding air conditioning to an existing air handler

What to know before installing
- Available while supplies last: the HSA6 series is no longer produced by the manufacturer.
- Cooling only. Sold alone, the unit does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- The indoor coil and the Ion control are not included.
- 208/230 V single-phase circuit: 17.5 A minimum circuit ampacity, 25 A maximum time-delay fuse or breaker.
- TXV required beyond 20 ft (6.1 m) of vertical separation or 50 ft (15.2 m) of total length; long-line accessories beyond 80 ft (24.4 m).
- Below 55°F (12.8°C), cooling requires low-ambient accessories and a non-communicating thermostat.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the published combination give 23,800 BTU/h and not 24,000?
The 24,000 BTU/h is the 2-ton nominal size. The 23,800 BTU/h figure is the capacity measured for the reference combination with a *EN(A,D)4X31*17** coil and a TXV, at 95°F.
Will my current thermostat work?
Arcoaire recommends the Ion SYST0101CW communicating control, sold separately, for self-configuring operation. The manufacturer also provides for a non-communicating thermostat, required in particular for cooling below 55°F (12.8°C). We check your thermostat during the estimate.
What electrical circuit is needed?
A 208/230 V single-phase circuit, with a 17.5 A minimum circuit ampacity and a 25 A maximum time-delay fuse or breaker.
Does it qualify for a grant?
No. A cooling-only air conditioner sold alone does not qualify for Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert grant.
What warranty does Arcoaire provide?
A 5-year No Hassle Replacement limited warranty and a 5-year parts limited warranty, compressor and coil included, plus 5 years with timely registration. In Quebec, the certificate states that registration cannot be a condition. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
