GENERAL AIRSTAGE UTZ-EU electric heater kits are, under the GENERAL label, the same part as the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE version; for as long as the transition lasts, both names share the shelves. The name GENERAL Inc. replaced Fujitsu General Limited on January 1, 2026, without touching the manufacturer, the factories or the model numbers. The element is housed in the cabinet of the AMUH multi-position air handler belonging to an AIRSTAGE central heat pump, GENERAL or Fujitsu brand. It heats the air that is already flowing through the air handler and carries the load whenever the heat pump defrosts or the cold gets extreme. The six kits grouped here are for the small cabinet, the one used by the AMUH12KUAS, AMUH18KUAS and AMUH24KUAS air handlers.
No universal kit: the air handler decides
The manufacturer’s submittal sheet spells out, air handler by air handler, which outputs are allowed. Every model runs on 208/240 V. A model number ending in MSA means one heating stage; MSB2 means two, with the second stage joining in only as demand climbs.
Which kit for which air handler
- AMUH12KUAS: 2 kW in one stage with the UTZ-EU02MSA, or 4 kW in two stages with the UTZ-EU04MSB2
- AMUH18KUAS: 3 kW in one stage with the UTZ-EU03MSA, or 6 kW in two stages with the UTZ-EU06MSB2
- AMUH24KUAS: 2 kW with the UTZ-EU02MSA, 4 kW in one stage with the UTZ-EU04MSA, or 8 kW in two stages with the UTZ-EU08MSB2
What to check before ordering
It all begins with the air handler’s nameplate: copy the model number from it in full. The right output also depends on the home’s heating load and on what your electrical service can deliver; it is the nameplate, along with the Québec Construction Code, that is used to size the circuit. The AMUH30 to AMUH48 air handlers, built in a medium cabinet, call for a different kit series, shown on its own page.

What to know before installing
- Read the full air handler model number on its nameplate before choosing the capacity.
- The manufacturer lists the compatible kits for each air handler on its submittal sheet.
- The electrical circuit must be sized from the nameplate and the Québec electrical code.
- Wiring is done with the power off, by a licensed electrician or refrigeration technician.

What is the difference between 1 and 2 stages?
A 2-stage kit heats in two steps: the first is often enough, the second comes on when demand rises. A 1-stage kit works as a single block.
