Quick facts
2.5 tons: the size for homes that fall in between
Between two sizes
A semi-detached house in Longueuil, a renovated two-storey home in Laval, a house that just got new windows: the load calculation often lands between 2 and 3 tons. Conforto’s MHAH130DACFC answers that case. It is the 2.5-ton (30,000 BTU/h) air handler of the MHAH series, presented in Conforto’s brochure on ducted central heat pump systems, with a published maximum airflow of 894 CFM.
The right size has a direct effect on comfort. Too small, the system struggles in extreme cold or heat; too large, it keeps starting and stopping, leaves differences between rooms and removes humidity poorly. The in-between size avoids both pitfalls when the house calls for it.
A larger cabinet than the 2-ton
With this size, the MHAH series changes footprint: the cabinet is 21.02 in wide, 21.02 in deep and 49.02 in high, a deeper square base and a taller unit than the 1.5 and 2-ton sizes. If you are replacing a smaller air handler, the location and plenum are checked before ordering. The same footprint is also used for the 3 and 4-ton sizes of the series.
Conforto publishes 42 dB at maximum speed, 40.5 dB at medium and 36.5 dB at minimum. The air handler runs on 208/230 V single phase, 60 Hz, and connects to the outdoor unit with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 3/4 in suction line.
What is not included
The MHAH130DACFC is sold without an outdoor unit; the matched Conforto model is confirmed with you before ordering. Sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant, which follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. No heater kit is listed for this model in the data we verified; for electric backup heat, we confirm the compatible option before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Is the cabinet larger than the 2-ton one?
Yes. It is 21.02 in wide, 21.02 in deep and 49.02 in high, a deeper and taller cabinet than the 1.5 and 2-ton sizes of the series. We measure the location during the estimate.
Why 2.5 tons rather than 2 or 3?
Because the house’s load calculation calls for it. An undersized unit struggles in extreme weather; an oversized one short-cycles and dehumidifies poorly. We run that calculation before proposing a size.
What sound level should I expect?
Conforto publishes 42 dB at maximum speed, 40.5 dB at medium and 36.5 dB at minimum. Location and ducts also affect perceived noise.
Can I get the LogisVert grant?
Not with the air handler alone. The grant follows a certified outdoor unit + air handler pair; for a complete system, we check the pair’s eligibility in the quote.
