Quick facts
A 4-ton Conforto air handler that keeps a compact footprint
For large homes
The MHAH148DACFC is the 4-ton (48,000 BTU/h) air handler of the MHAH series, one of the ranges in Conforto’s brochure on central heat pump systems. It is meant for large homes: two-storey houses with a finished basement, extended residences, homes where the original system is no longer enough. Conforto publishes a maximum airflow of 1,282 CFM for it.
In Laval, on the North Shore and on the South Shore, these homes often have ductwork designed for an older furnace. Before proposing 4 tons, we measure the main ducts and return air: high airflow in ducts that are too narrow makes a system noisy at the grilles, whatever the equipment.
Compact for its size
The cabinet is 21.02 in wide, 21.02 in deep and 49.02 in high. Conforto publishes exactly these dimensions for the 2.5 and 3-ton sizes of the series. For a mechanical room already occupied by a water heater and an electrical panel, that is an advantage: moving to 4 tons takes no more floor space than a 3-ton from the same series.
The air handler runs on 208/230 V single phase, 60 Hz, and connects to the outdoor unit with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 3/4 in suction line.
Noise: location matters
Conforto publishes 50 dB at maximum speed, 47 dB at medium and 43.5 dB at minimum. At this size, we place the air handler away from bedrooms when the house allows, and we set up the system so it runs at the lower speeds most of the time, where it is quietest.
Conditions and installation
This air handler is bought alone: plan for the matched Conforto outdoor unit, which we confirm with you before ordering. Without it, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant, which follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. No heater kit appears for this model in our data; we validate any electric backup option with Conforto before ordering.
AirGreen, a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. We offer a free on-site estimate and a written quote. Our technicians install the air handler, adapt the plenum, connect the ducts, the refrigerant piping, the condensate drain and the electrical supply, pull a vacuum and commission the system. We install in Montreal, Longueuil and throughout Greater Montreal.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 4-ton larger than the 3-ton?
No. Conforto publishes the same dimensions for the 2.5, 3 and 4-ton sizes of the series: 21.02 in wide, 21.02 in deep and 49.02 in high.
Is it noisy at maximum speed?
Conforto publishes 50 dB at maximum speed, 47 dB at medium and 43.5 dB at minimum. We place the air handler away from bedrooms when possible and set up the system so it runs at the lower speeds most of the time.
Will my ducts be enough?
That is the key question on a 4-ton project. We measure the main ducts and return air during the estimate; if they cannot take up to 1,282 CFM, the quote says so.
Which outdoor unit does it work with?
With a Conforto outdoor unit from the same central heat pump range. We confirm the matched model before ordering; the outdoor unit is not included with the air handler.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
Not when sold alone. The grant follows a certified outdoor unit + air handler pair; for a complete system, we check eligibility in the quote.
