1,582 CFM of airflow for large ducted homes

The largest air handler in the Conforto MHAH series

The MHAH160DACFC is the 5-ton (60,000 BTU) indoor unit of Conforto’s MHAH series. Installed in the basement or a mechanical room, it pushes heated or cooled air through the home’s ductwork. Conforto lists it in its brochure on central ducted heat pump systems, with a maximum airflow of 1,582 CFM.

This size is mainly for large homes, two-storey houses with a finished basement and buildings whose ducts serve many rooms. For a smaller house, a smaller size in the same series is often a better fit. We run the numbers with you rather than default to the biggest unit.

What to plan for in a Quebec home

The cabinet measures 21.02 x 24.49 x 52.99 in (width x depth x height). In many cottages in the region, the old unit sat in a corner of the basement near the electrical panel. That is often the right spot, as long as you leave the service clearance the manufacturer requires.

On the electrical side, it runs on 208/230 V, single phase, 60 Hz. On the refrigerant side, it connects with a 3/8 in liquid line and a 7/8 in suction line. If you plan to reuse existing lines, we check their size and condition before confirming the quote.

For sound, Conforto publishes three values: 51 dB at maximum speed, 45.5 dB at medium speed and 41.5 dB at minimum speed. The cabinet spends most of its time at the lower speeds, and the location you choose also affects what you hear upstairs.

Sold alone: what that means for you

The air handler is sold without an outdoor unit. It therefore has no certified efficiency rating on its own, and it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant: the grant follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. If your project is to replace the whole system, we offer you the complete central heat pump and check that the pair qualifies before you sign.

01 · What it is for

The indoor unit of a 5-ton Conforto central system

The MHAH160DACFC is installed inside the building and delivers heated or cooled air through the whole duct system. Conforto lists it in its brochure on central ducted heat pump systems, in the 5-ton size.

  • Large homes whose ductwork serves several floors
  • Replacing the air handler of a Conforto MHAH central system of the same size
  • A 5-ton central heat pump project, once the matched outdoor unit is confirmed
  • Buildings supplied with 208 V or 230 V
1,582 CFM at maximumThe airflow Conforto publishes for this size, the highest in the MHAH series.
Three speeds, three sound levelsConforto publishes 51 dB at maximum speed, 45.5 dB at medium speed and 41.5 dB at minimum speed.
7/8 in suction line3/8 in liquid and 7/8 in suction connections, to plan for as soon as the refrigerant lines are chosen.

03 · Before installing

What to know before installing

  • Sold alone: the LogisVert grant follows the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. Bought alone, this air handler does not qualify, and the outdoor unit is not included.
  • Plan room for a 21.02 x 24.49 x 52.99 in cabinet (W x D x H), plus the service clearance the manufacturer requires.
  • 208/230 V single-phase, 60 Hz power supply. Electrical and refrigerant connections must be made by qualified personnel.
  • The Conforto brochure does not specify a heating element kit for this model: if you want electric backup heat, we confirm the option with the manufacturer before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Is this air handler sold with an outdoor unit?

No. The MHAH160DACFC is sold alone. A complete central heat pump needs a matched Conforto outdoor unit: send us your project and we confirm the match before ordering.

Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?

Not when it is bought alone. Hydro-Québec’s grant applies to the certified outdoor unit + air handler pair. If you are replacing the whole system, we prepare a quote for the complete set.

How much room does it need?

The cabinet measures 21.02 x 24.49 x 52.99 in (W x D x H). Add the service clearance Conforto requires; during the free estimate, we measure the location you have in mind.

How loud is it?

Conforto publishes 51 dB at maximum speed, 45.5 dB at medium speed and 41.5 dB at minimum speed. Where the cabinet sits and how the ductwork is laid out also affect what you hear in the house.

What refrigerant line sizes does it take?

The connections are 3/8 in for the liquid line and 7/8 in for the suction line. If you plan to reuse existing lines, we check that they are suitable before installation.
