Quick facts
Add air conditioning to a horizontal furnace without redoing everything
In many condos, plexes and small houses, the electric furnace or air handler does not stand upright in a corner of the basement: it lies on its side, hangs from the ceiling or sits in a crawl space. The ADP HH57118A185A2102AP horizontal evaporator coil is designed for that position. It is a dedicated horizontal slab, delivered in its cabinet, rated 1.5 tons (18,000 BTU/h nominal), using R-410A, with a factory-installed piston metering device.
What it is, and who it suits
The evaporator coil is the indoor part of a central air conditioner or central heat pump. Placed at the outlet of the air handler, it cools and dries the air flowing through the ductwork; with a heat pump, it also works in heating mode. ADP presents the HH series as compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump, and as a good choice for replacing the coil of an existing installation. The 1.5-ton size is aimed at small dwellings, plex units and modest bungalows. We always validate the sizing before recommending it.
A format designed for tight spaces
The cabinet measures 22-3/4 in high, 23 in wide and 10 in deep, and weighs 36 lb. This is the only depth offered in the HH series, an advantage when the unit sits above a suspended ceiling or in a crawl space. The slab accepts air in both directions: the unit can blow through the coil from the left or from the right, which gives more latitude for connecting the existing ductwork. The drain pan is molded from a high-temperature polymer (450°F), UV resistant and treated with Microban.
In a Québec house or plex
Here, most central systems rely on an electric furnace or an air handler. The coil is added to that system: in summer, it removes heat and humidity from the air; in winter, with a heat pump, it distributes the heat captured outdoors, and the furnace takes over during deep cold. One point must be clear, however. Sold alone, the coil does not qualify for the LogisVert grant and has no efficiency rating of its own: performance depends on the outdoor unit and the equipment it is matched with. ADP does not publish a matching list for this model, so we check your equipment before ordering.
What AirGreen’s installation covers
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). After a free on-site estimate and a written quote, our technicians:
- check the capacity and refrigerant of the outdoor unit, as well as the piston size;
- recover the refrigerant and remove the old coil, if applicable;
- secure the cabinet and adapt the transition to the 18-5/8 x 21-1/4 in opening;
- braze the 3/8 and 7/8 in connections, pressure-test with nitrogen, then pull a vacuum;
- connect the condensate drain and commission the system.
We install this coil in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the North Shore and on the South Shore.
Ask for your free estimate: we confirm compatibility with your furnace and outdoor unit, then you receive a written quote. Financing is available to spread out the cost of the project.
The coil for units installed lying down
The HH57118A185A2102AP attaches to the outlet of an electric furnace or air handler installed horizontally. Matched with an R-410A outdoor unit, it cools the air in summer; with a heat pump, it also works in heating mode.
- Adding air conditioning to an existing horizontal electric furnace
- Replacing a worn-out horizontal coil on an existing R-410A system
- Condos, plex units and small houses where the unit hangs from the ceiling or sits in a crawl space
- 1.5-ton central systems, air conditioner or heat pump

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and air handler.
- Dedicated horizontal coil: it cannot be installed in the vertical position.
- R-410A version: the outdoor unit must use the same refrigerant. The factory piston is sized to the nominal 18,000 BTU/h capacity; we validate it against the outdoor unit before start-up.
- ADP does not publish a matching list for this model: we check your outdoor unit and your furnace or air handler before ordering.
- The cabinet opening measures 18-5/8 x 21-1/4 in (W x H); the transition to the existing ductwork is adapted on site when needed.

Frequently asked questions
Does this coil work with a heat pump?
Yes. ADP states that the HH series is compatible with both air conditioners and heat pumps. This version runs on R-410A: the outdoor unit must use the same refrigerant.
Can it be installed vertically?
No. It is a dedicated horizontal slab. It accepts air in both directions, which leaves a choice of connection side, but it stays lying down. An upright furnace needs a coil designed for the vertical position.
Which outdoor unit should it be matched with?
ADP does not publish a matching list for this model. We check the capacity and refrigerant of your outdoor unit, as well as your furnace or air handler, before ordering.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not when it is sold alone. If you are also replacing the outdoor unit, our quote tells you whether the complete proposed system qualifies.
What warranty does the manufacturer offer?
ADP covers the coil’s parts for 5 years from installation, not to exceed 6 years from manufacture. An extension to 10 years is available with registration within 90 days, for an owner-occupied single-family residence and a model covered by ADP’s promotion; in Québec, according to ADP, failure to register does not reduce coverage. Labour and refrigerant are not covered by this warranty.
