Quick facts
Replace a worn horizontal coil and keep your ductwork
An evaporator coil that leaks or has lost its efficiency does not always condemn the whole system. When the R-410A outdoor unit is still in good condition, replacing only the coil can restore normal summer comfort without touching the ductwork. The ADP HH58124A225A2102AP horizontal coil was designed for this kind of job: ADP presents it as a good choice for replacing existing installations.
A 2-ton coil for a unit lying on its side
It is a dedicated horizontal evaporator slab, delivered in its cabinet, with a nominal capacity of 2 tons (24,000 BTU/h). It runs on R-410A and the metering device is a factory-installed piston, sized to that nominal capacity. ADP states that the HH series suits a central air conditioner as well as a central heat pump. This size is often found in townhouses, semi-detached homes and bungalows where the electric furnace lies along the basement ceiling or in a mechanical space.
When replacing the coil alone is the right decision
We recommend a coil-only replacement when three conditions are met: the outdoor unit works well, it uses R-410A, and its capacity matches the 2-ton size. If the outdoor unit is also reaching the end of its life, it is often better to look at a complete system; in that case, we present both scenarios in the quote. Note also that a coil sold alone does not qualify for the LogisVert grant and has no efficiency rating of its own: performance depends on the combination with the outdoor unit and the air handler.
The details that matter on site
The cabinet measures 22-3/4 x 27 x 10 in (H x W x D) and weighs 41 lb. Its 22-5/8 x 21-1/4 in opening lets us prepare the transition to the existing unit before installation day. The slab accepts air in either direction, which simplifies the hookup when the old coil was not oriented on the same side. The drain pan, made of high-temperature polymer (450°F), UV resistant and treated with Microban, collects condensate during the cooling season.
How we work
A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. The estimate visit is free and the quote is written. On the day of the work, we recover the refrigerant, remove the old coil, set the new slab, braze the 3/8 and 7/8 in connections, pressure-test and pull a vacuum, reconnect the drain, then check operation with the outdoor unit. We work in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
Send us a photo of your furnace and of the outdoor unit’s nameplate: we confirm compatibility and schedule the free estimate. Financing is available.
For replacing or adding a 2-ton horizontal coil
The HH58124A225A2102AP sits at the outlet of an electric furnace or air handler installed lying down. ADP presents it as a good choice for replacing the coil of an existing installation, with an air conditioner or a heat pump.
- Replacing the horizontal coil of an R-410A system whose outdoor unit is still in good condition
- Townhouses, semi-detached homes and bungalows with a horizontally installed furnace
- Adding a 2-ton central heat pump to a horizontal electric furnace
- Replacing another brand’s coil with a slab of comparable size, after checking the dimensions

What to know before installing
- Sold alone: does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. A coil has no efficiency rating on its own; everything depends on the matched outdoor unit and air handler.
- Dedicated horizontal slab: it cannot be mounted in the vertical position.
- Runs on R-410A. The factory-installed piston is sized for 24,000 BTU/h nominal; we validate it against the outdoor unit before start-up.
- Plan room for a 22-3/4 x 27 x 10 in (H x W x D) cabinet weighing 41 lb, with service access.
- ADP does not publish a matching list for this model: compatibility is checked before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Can we replace only the coil and keep the outdoor unit?
Yes, if the outdoor unit runs on R-410A and its capacity matches the 2-ton size. We check its condition and the piston size before recommending a coil-only replacement.
Is this coil suitable for a heat pump?
Yes. ADP states that the HH series is compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump, using R-410A for this version.
Which direction must the air flow?
Either way: ADP publishes bi-directional airflow for this horizontal slab. The coil cannot, however, be installed vertically.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not sold alone. If the project also includes a new outdoor unit, the quote specifies whether the complete proposed system qualifies.
What is the manufacturer’s warranty?
ADP covers the coil’s parts for 5 years from installation (no more than 6 years after manufacture). With registration within 90 days, coverage can reach 10 years for an owner-occupied single-family residence, if the model is covered by ADP’s promotion; in Québec, according to ADP, not registering does not reduce coverage. Labour and refrigerant are excluded.
