Quick facts
A 2.5-ton horizontal slab, ready for a central heat pump
The ADP HH59130A265A2102AP evaporator coil is the indoor part that turns a horizontal electric furnace into an air conditioning system, or into a central heat pump if the outdoor unit allows it. It is a dedicated horizontal slab, delivered in its cabinet, rated 2.5 tons (30,000 BTU/h nominal), using R-410A. ADP declares it compatible with an air conditioner as well as a heat pump.
The coil’s role in a central heat pump
In summer, the refrigerant flowing through the slab absorbs heat from the air blown by the furnace; moisture condenses on the fins and drains into the pan, molded from a high-temperature polymer (450°F), UV resistant, with Microban. In winter, with a heat pump, the cycle reverses: the slab returns the heat captured outdoors to the ductwork, and the electric furnace tops up as needed. This 2.5-ton size is aimed at mid-size multi-storey houses, once the load has been calculated.
The factory-sized piston, explained simply
The metering device doses the refrigerant entering the slab. Here, it is a factory-installed piston sized for the nominal 30,000 BTU/h capacity. According to ADP, the H59 slab covers 2.5 to 4 tons: the piston is therefore what sets this model’s size. Before start-up, we check the requirements of the matched outdoor unit and adjust if needed. ADP does not publish a matching list for this coil, and a coil sold alone has no efficiency rating of its own; it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant either.
For mechanical rooms and finished basements
In many Québec homes, the furnace was laid along the ceiling of the mechanical room to free up floor space when the basement was finished. The 22-3/4 x 31 x 10 in (H x W x D), 44 lb cabinet fits this type of installation, provided it is well supported. Air can pass through the slab in either direction, which leaves more latitude to place the coil on the most practical side. It cannot, however, be mounted vertically.

Let’s talk about your heat pump or air conditioning project: the estimate is free, the quote is written and financing is available.
The indoor coil of a 2.5-ton horizontal central system
Attached to the outlet of an electric furnace or air handler installed lying down, the HH59130A265A2102AP cools and dehumidifies the air in summer. Matched with a heat pump, it also works in heating mode.
- Installing a 2.5-ton central heat pump on a horizontal electric furnace
- Multi-storey houses where the furnace lies along the ceiling of a mechanical room
- Finished basements where the unit was laid horizontally to free up floor space
- Replacing an existing R-410A horizontal coil
Specifications
From the manufacturer’s documentation. A value the manufacturer does not publish is not listed.
What to know before installing
- Sold alone: does not qualify for the LogisVert grant. The coil has no efficiency rating of its own; performance depends on the matched outdoor unit and air handler.
- Horizontal position only: no vertical mounting.
- The 22-3/4 x 31 x 10 in (H x W x D) cabinet weighs 44 lb: when hung from the ceiling, it must be solidly supported.
- R-410A: the factory piston is sized for 30,000 BTU/h nominal; we check that it suits the outdoor unit before start-up.
- Cabinet opening of 26-5/8 x 21-1/4 in (W x H). ADP does not publish a matching list for this model: we validate compatibility before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the same slab used for several sizes?
According to ADP, the H59 slab covers 2.5 to 4 tons. The factory-installed piston, sized for 30,000 BTU/h, sets this model’s nominal size.
Does this coil work with a heat pump?
Yes. ADP states that the HH series is compatible with an air conditioner or a heat pump. This version runs on R-410A, like the outdoor unit it will be connected to.
Does the piston need to be changed?
Not necessarily. It is sized for the coil’s nominal capacity. Before start-up, we check the requirements of the matched outdoor unit and adjust if needed.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No, not when it is sold alone. If you are also replacing the outdoor unit, the quote states whether the complete proposed system qualifies.
How much space is needed?
The cabinet measures 22-3/4 x 31 x 10 in (H x W x D) and weighs 44 lb. Add the access needed for service and for the condensate drain.
