GENERAL AIRSTAGE Aquila XLTH 2-Zone 18,000 BTU Heat Pump: a quiet home office and master bedroom, cold-climate certified, installed by AirGreen
By day, you work in the office; at night, you sleep in the master bedroom. Two rooms that are rarely used at the same time, that both call for quiet and that have to stay comfortable in January as in July. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE Aquila XLTH 2-zone 18,000 BTU answers that brief with a single AOUH18KWAH2 outdoor unit and two wall-mounted heads, configured on this page at 7,000 + 7,000 BTU.
It is the same machine as the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE Aquila XLTH system sold under this model number. Fujitsu General Limited has been called GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026, and nothing else has moved: same AHRI certificate 215447691, same certified values, same cold-climate designation, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour.
We recommend it often in Griffintown and in the Sud-Ouest, where condos, lofts and townhouses combine a closed office and a bedroom at the back of the unit, with no duct anywhere to connect them. Two heads, two setpoints and a compressor that knows how to run gently: that is enough to make two rooms comfortable without opening a single ceiling.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
The GENERAL name appears on our pages because the manufacturer changed owners, not products. In August 2025, Fujitsu General Limited passed into the hands of Paloma Rheem Holdings, the group that has owned Rheem since 1988, then it became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026. The head office and the research and development centre stayed in Kawasaki, Japan, as did the factories; the AIRSTAGE products keep their model numbers and their warranty program. GENERAL is in fact a brand used since 1946, carried by a company founded in 1936 that celebrates 90 years in 2026. In Canada, Rheem Canada has managed sales since February 2026 and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
During the transition, the Fujitsu brand is fading out little by little and the same AOUH18KWAH2 may arrive under either logo. Two pages, one system: we keep both visible so you can see for yourself that the values match, cell by cell, in the table below.

| Product page | This page | Fujitsu AIRSTAGE Aquila XLTH 2-zone 18,000 BTU |
The Fujitsu version of this system is described on the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE Aquila XLTH 2-zone 18,000 BTU page; its technical content is identical to this one.
Let us start with quiet, since it is the reason this page exists. A heat pump is heard mostly when it starts, stops and starts again. The Inverter compressor in the AOUH18KWAH2 avoids that back-and-forth: its minimum capacity certified by NEEP is 6,800 BTU/h, which lets it run at low speed when a single room asks for heat or cooling. That is precisely the case of an office used during working hours and a bedroom used at night. The compressor follows the room that calls, at low speed, instead of racing for a modest demand.
Outside, the outdoor unit is rated at 49.0 dB(A), a low value for a multi-zone system. On a condo balcony or in a narrow back yard in the Sud-Ouest, that is what allows it to sit close to the rooms while limiting noise for the neighbours. Inside, two settings make the difference during a video call or at night: the fan on low speed, and a steady setpoint that the compressor holds without jolts. The vertical louvres move automatically; the horizontal louvres are aimed by hand, once and for all, so they do not blow straight at the desk or the pillow.
Quiet is worth nothing if the room is cold. This outdoor unit belongs to the XLTH series, certified for cold climates, and its heating is guaranteed down to −26 °C. The NEEP values (ashp.neep.org, AHRI certificate 215447691) read as follows:
- at −8 °C: 14,800 BTU/h at certified rating, with a COP of 3.24, and up to 22,800 BTU/h at peak;
- at −15 °C: up to 22,000 BTU/h, with a COP of 2.18;
- at −26 °C, the coldest certified point: still 12,060 BTU/h, with a COP of 2.02.
In practical terms, at −8 °C, every kilowatt-hour of electricity becomes a little more than three kilowatt-hours of heat in the office and the bedroom. Even at −26 °C, on a night of deep cold, the system still returns twice what it consumes, where an electric baseboard stays at one for one. A 150 W heater warms the base pan of the outdoor unit to keep ice from building up in it during defrost cycles.
Over a full season, the HSPF2 of 11.0 sums up heating efficiency: it is the total heat delivered divided by the total electricity consumed, thaws and cold snaps included. In summer, the SEER2 of 22.0 and the EER2 of 13.5 measure the same thing for air conditioning, over the season and in hot weather. The model carries the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient designation on top of its cold-climate designation, and each zone keeps its own setpoint: a working temperature in the office, cooler in the bedroom if that is how you sleep best.
This compressor accepts a maximum of 2 zones. The configuration on this page brings together two 7,000 BTU heads, but you choose them with us among the compatible indoor units:
- ASUH07KPAS, 7,000 BTU: the closed office or a bedroom of ordinary size;
- ASUH09KPAS, 9,000 BTU: the master bedroom with a closet and large windows;
- ASUH12KPAS, 12,000 BTU: the office open to the living area, in a loft;
- ASUH15KPAS, 15,000 BTU: when one of the two zones covers the large volume of a high-ceiling loft.
The right size depends on the room, not on a general rule. A head that is too big in a small bedroom heats in bursts and blows harder; a well-chosen head works slowly and stays discreet. We measure, we look at the windows and the exposure, then we validate the chosen pair against the manufacturer's matching rules.
An AirGreen installation follows clear steps:
- Choosing the spot for the outdoor unit: balcony, terrace, yard or roof, with the clearance needed for air and snow. In a condo, this spot is decided with the condominium board; we provide the technical documentation it asks for.
- Mounting the two wall-mounted heads, high up, on a wall that reaches the outside by the shortest path and lets them blow along the length of the room.
- Connecting one refrigerant line per head, with its interconnection cable, in a discreet line-set cover outside.
- Draining each head's condensate by gravity, or through a small condensate pump when the slope is not enough.
- Vacuum, commissioning and setting up both remotes with you.
On the maintenance side, the indoor filters of each head slide out of the unit by hand and go under warm water. In an office where you spend the day, it is also a matter of calm: a clogged filter forces the fan to work harder, and you can hear it. Once a year, the refrigeration technician cleans the outdoor coil and checks the connections, the drains and the R-32 refrigerant, whose global warming potential is 675, versus 2,088 for R-410A according to ENERGY STAR.
The AOUH18KWAH2 is listed on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list of October 27, 2026, with a grant of $1,776. The eligibility rules are the program's; we check them with you in the quote. Wi-Fi is available as an option: handy for bringing the office up to temperature before starting the day, or for cooling the bedroom before you get home.
This system is designed for the self-employed worker or the remote worker who wants two comfortable, quiet rooms, not the whole house. It suits the Griffintown condo, the Saint-Henri townhouse or the Pointe-Saint-Charles apartment that never had ducts, and anyone who wants to heat through deep cold without relying on baseboards alone. If a third space needs to be added someday, we will steer you toward a compressor that accepts it; if two rooms are enough, this one is cut out for them.

What people ask us about multi-zone systems.
Can I heat one room and cool another at the same time?
No. On a multi-zone system like this one, every head works in the same mode, heating or cooling. Each room still keeps its own set temperature.
What happens when every room calls for heat?
They share the outdoor unit’s capacity: 14,800 BTU/h at −8 °C, 22,000 at −15 °C.
How many heads can I connect?
Up to 2 on this outdoor unit. This product is configured for 2 heads.
How much is the LogisVert grant?
$1,776 according to Hydro-Québec’s list of October 27, 2026. The grant never exceeds 100 % of the cost before taxes; apply within 9 months of installation.
Is it ENERGY STAR certified?
Yes, cold climate, ID 3627396. It also meets the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient criteria, according to the ENERGY STAR database.
Down to what temperature does it heat?
Down to −26 °C.
Is it noisy?
Indoors, the reference head goes down to 21 dB(A). Outdoors, 49 dB(A): we place the unit away from bedroom windows.
Why a multi-zone instead of several wall units?
One outdoor unit on the wall and one circuit. In return, the rooms share the capacity, and if the outdoor unit stops, every zone stops.
What does the warranty cover?
Our sheet lists 12 years on the compressor and 12 years on parts. AirGreen extended warranty: possible.
