LG R-32 standard central heat pump: 1 to 4 tons, including our only LG 1-ton

Seven LG R-32 systems from 1 to 4 tons: the KUSXB outdoor unit and the KNSLB air handler, connected to your ductwork. They heat down to −20°C; below that, backup heat takes over. Here is each size with its certified figures, and the only one-ton LG central system we offer.

The smallest

The only one-ton LG central system at AirGreen

The KSSLB121A system is certified at 12,000 BTU/h in cooling, exactly LogisVert’s minimum. It is on the list, at $1,140.

Useful when the load calculation shows a small need, for example a well-insulated home or part of a house served by its own ductwork.

In the cold

  • At −8°C: 9,500 BTU/h rated, 13,100 BTU/h maximum
  • At −15°C: 10,500 BTU/h, COP 1.85
  • At −20°C: 10,000 BTU/h, COP 1.40

LG also publishes a one-ton LGRED°, which we do not offer.

A sizing nuance

1.5 or 2 tons: at −15°C, they are even

At −15°C, NEEP certifies 22,000 BTU/h for both. It is not a listing error. The difference is elsewhere: in cooling, at −8°C, and so in the LogisVert amount.

If the home needs mostly heating and little cooling, the 1.5-ton gives the same output at −15°C and nearly the same at −20°C. If the cooling load is over 18,000 BTU/h, it is the 2-ton. The load calculation decides.

Planning the backup

LG publishes −20°C as the bottom of the heating range for the KUSXB121A and KUSXB181A outdoor units, and NEEP certifies all seven systems at that temperature. At Montréal-Trudeau the daily minimum drops below −20°C about 12 days a year (1991-2020 normals).

Backup inside the air handler

LG provides ANEH electric heat kits, housed in the air handler. Their size depends on the home’s load and on the electrical panel’s capacity.

What people ask us most

How cold does the LG standard central heat?
Down to −20°C. LG publishes that limit for the KUSXB121A and KUSXB181A outdoor units, and NEEP certifies all seven systems’ output at −20°C. Below that, backup heat takes over.
Is there a one-ton LG central system?
Yes, the KSSLB121A system: KUSXB121A and KNSLB121A, certified at 12,000 BTU/h in cooling and on the LogisVert list at $1,140. It is the only one-ton LG central system we offer.
Why do the 1.5-ton and the 2-ton give the same output at −15°C?
Because NEEP certifies both at 22,000 BTU/h at that temperature. The 2-ton cools more, certifies more at −8°C and gets $600 more from LogisVert.
Do you offer the 5-ton LG standard central?
No. LG publishes a 5-ton KSSLB601A system, but our line stops at 4 tons.
Does my central really cool 4 tons?
The 4-ton standard is certified at 45,500 BTU/h, not 48,000. Four of the seven sizes are certified below their nominal tonnage: we size with the certified value.
Do I need an electric heat kit with a standard central?
For days below −20°C, you need backup heat. LG provides ANEH electric heat kits for that, housed in the air handler: we choose the size with you.
