Quick facts
A 30 kW boiler that heats according to your building’s schedule and the weather
The VoltMax SCR 30-240-3 PH at a glance
Thermo 2000 designs the VoltMax for commercial, institutional and multi-unit buildings. This model delivers 30 kW, or 102,360 BTU/h according to the manufacturer, on a 240 V three-phase supply, and draws 72 A at full output. It heats a loop of radiators, hot-water baseboards or radiant floor, with no GHG emissions on site.
Heating when the building is occupied
Offices in Laval, a store in Longueuil, a workshop on the North Shore: these spaces do not need the same heat in the middle of the night as in the middle of the day. The VoltMax’s Schneider Electric controller handles schedules, and its included outdoor sensor lets it adjust the water setpoint to the temperature outside. The setpoint ranges from 50 °F to 200 °F (10 °C to 93 °C).
Output is measured out by a solid-state relay (SCR) that modulates from 0 to 100%, on top of the relay stages that the controller alternates. According to Thermo 2000, this modulation limits peak power demand. Two high-limit controls, one automatic and one manual, are supplied with the unit.
The building manager can monitor the boiler remotely: Ethernet port with a web page and email alarms, BACnet IP or MS-TP communication, and an external 0-10 Vdc control for setpoint and output. On site, the 3 in backlit display shows alarm codes in French or English.
What to plan for
The boiler needs a 240 V three-phase supply; we size the protection and conductors from the nameplate. It holds 11 US gal of water, weighs 310 lb (141 kg) and is placed with clearances of 3 in at the sides and rear, 24 in at the front and 32 in above. The circulator and expansion tank are not among the supplied parts, and the low-water cut-off is optional at this size.
AirGreen’s installation
After a free on-site estimate, you receive a written quote covering these items. Our technicians connect the boiler to the loop through its four 1 1/2 in male NPT side connections, pipe the discharge of the factory-installed relief valve and mount the outdoor sensor. The electrical connection is made under AirGreen’s RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). At start-up, we program the schedules with you based on occupancy hours, then the outdoor reset and alarms.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, also active on the South Shore. Thermo 2000 warrants the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.
