Quick facts
75 kW on 240 V three-phase to heat the building and its hot water
The largest 240 V three-phase VoltMax SCR in our range
The VoltMax SCR 75 (manufacturer designation: VOLTMAX SCR 75-240-3 PH) is a 75 kW commercial electric boiler, or 255,900 BTU/h. Among the 240 V three-phase VoltMax SCR models we offer, it is the largest size. It is aimed at owners and managers of apartment buildings, small commercial buildings and institutional buildings that already have a 240 V three-phase service.
Like every VoltMax SCR, it heats the water in a closed loop. That water can run through radiators, a radiant floor or the coils of an air handling unit. What makes it useful in a rental building is that it can also take care of an indirect water heater.
One appliance for heating and the indirect water heater
The Schneider Electric controller offers a second setpoint, reserved for the indirect water heater, and a pump contact with or without domestic hot water priority. In practice, a building in Laval or Longueuil that heats its apartments with hot water can also produce domestic water from the same boiler, through an indirect tank ordered separately.
For heating, the included outdoor sensor adjusts water temperature to the weather, over a setpoint range of 50 °F to 200 °F. Output follows demand from 0 to 100% through solid-state relays (SCR), on top of the relay stages; according to Thermo 2000, this modulation limits peak power.
It does, however, need an electrical service to match: the manufacturer lists 180.4 A on 240 V three-phase. We compare that value with the building’s actual capacity before proposing this model.
Installation by AirGreen
The estimate is free and done on site. We note the electrical service, the panel, the loop, the radiators or floor, and the occupants’ hot water needs. You then receive a written quote naming the boiler, the indirect water heater if there is one, the circulator and the expansion tank, the latter two not being on Thermo 2000’s list of supplied components.
On the day, we set the 310 lb boiler in place within its clearances (3 in on the sides and back, 24 in in front, 32 in above), connect the loop to the 1 1/2 in NPT side connections, wire the three-phase supply and the outdoor sensor, then set both setpoints and the priority. The loop is filled and purged before the system goes back into service.
The manufacturer’s warranty covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years. A family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, AirGreen holds RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work.

Heating and hot water for a building on 240 V three-phase
In an apartment building or a small commercial building on 240 V three-phase, the VoltMax SCR 75 heats the radiator or radiant floor loop and can also heat an indirect water heater, with or without domestic hot water priority.
- Hydronically heated apartment buildings with a 240 V three-phase service
- Heating loops paired with an indirect water heater for domestic water
- Small commercial buildings with radiant floors or radiators
- Replacing a commercial electric boiler in an existing building

What to know before installing
- Current of 180.4 A on 240 V three-phase, 60 Hz: the building’s electrical service must be able to supply it, and we check it before quoting.
- The indirect water heater, circulator and expansion tank are not among the components Thermo 2000 supplies.
- Space to plan: 3 in on the sides and back, 24 in in front and 32 in above the boiler.
- 75 kW is the largest 240 V three-phase size we offer in the VoltMax SCR series.
- Thermo 2000 warranty: 10 years on the tank (closed-loop heating), 2 years on electrical and mechanical components.
- Schneider Electric controller
- Outdoor temperature sensor
- ON/OFF control switch
- Control and power fuses and breakers
- SCR relays
- Two limit controls, automatic and manual reset
- Factory-installed relief valve
- Drain valve
- Low-water cut-off (standard above 60 kW)

Frequently asked questions
Can it produce hot water for the apartments?
Through an indirect water heater, yes. The controller manages a second setpoint for that tank and a pump contact, with or without domestic hot water priority. The indirect water heater is ordered separately; we choose it with you.
What does "domestic hot water priority" mean?
With priority on, the indirect water heater’s demand comes before heating demand. The controller lets you turn it on or off, depending on how the building is used.
What current should we plan for?
Thermo 2000 lists 180.4 A on 240 V three-phase, 60 Hz. We compare that value with the capacity of the service and panel during the free estimate.
How much does it weigh and how much room does it take?
It weighs 310 lb (141 kg). Thermo 2000 requires 3 in of clearance on the sides and back, 24 in in front and 32 in above; none at the floor.
Can you install it?
Yes. We set the boiler in place, connect it to the loop, to the indirect water heater if there is one and to the 240 V three-phase service, then commission it.
