Quick facts
Heating and hot water for a busy building, with a single 60 kW electric boiler on 240 V three phase
One boiler for two needs
In a seniors’ residence, an inn or a small hotel, occupants shower at all hours and expect steady heat. Thermo 2000’s VoltMax 60 meets both needs. This commercial electric boiler delivers 60 kW, or 204,720 BTU/h, on 240 V three phase, to the water loop that feeds the building’s radiators, radiant floors or hydro-air coils.
The controller also provides a second setpoint for an indirect water heater. Domestic water is heated there by the boiler water, and the pump contact works with or without domestic hot water priority, depending on the setting we choose together.
Precise control of both circuits
The heating loop follows the weather thanks to the included outdoor sensor: water temperature rises in deep cold and comes back down in mild weather, within a setpoint range of 50 °F to 200 °F (10 °C to 93 °C). The solid-state relay (SCR) varies output from 0 to 100%, and, according to Thermo 2000, this modulation limits peak power demand.
The Schneider Electric controller shows its alarm codes in French or English on a 3 in backlit display. For evening or night staff, the Ethernet port gives access to a web page and sends alarms by email; a building management system can also reach it over BACnet IP or MS-TP.
In the mechanical room
Thermo 2000 publishes a current of 144.3 A for this model on 240 V three phase. The boiler is vertical and compact, with 3 in of clearance on the sides and back, 24 in at the front and 32 in above. It weighs 310 lb (141 kg), holds 11 US gal of water and can sit on the floor. Four 1 1/2 in male NPT side connections tie it into the loop; the relief valve and drain are 3/4 in female NPT.
The indirect water heater, circulator and expansion tank are purchased separately. The low water cut-off is optional at 60 kW.
AirGreen’s installation
Our on-site estimate is free. We look at the heating loop, the current hot water production, the electrical service and the mechanical room. The written quote that follows details the boiler and everything that goes with it. Our technicians then install the VoltMax, connect it to the loop and the indirect water heater, make the electrical connection, mount the outdoor sensor, fill and purge the system, then set both setpoints. We schedule the work to keep the interruption of the occupants’ heat and hot water to a minimum.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than fifteen years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 10 years (limited warranty, closed-loop heating) and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years.
Let’s discuss your building

Heating and hot water for a building occupied day and night
In a seniors’ residence, an inn or a small hotel, hot water matters as much as heating. The VoltMax 60 supplies the heating loop and, through its second setpoint, an indirect water heater, with or without domestic hot water priority.
- Seniors’ residences, inns and small hotels heated with hot water
- Buildings where an indirect water heater produces domestic hot water
- Radiators, radiant floors or hydro-air coils
- Commercial buildings with a 240 V three-phase supply

Frequently asked questions
How does the VoltMax 60 produce domestic hot water?
Through an indirect water heater connected to the boiler. The controller gives it a second setpoint, separate from the heating loop’s. The indirect water heater is purchased separately.
Should domestic hot water priority be turned on?
The pump contact works with or without priority. We choose the setting with you based on the building’s hot water demand and heating load.
What current should be planned for?
Thermo 2000 publishes 144.3 A for this model on 240 V three phase. We size the breaker and conductors from that value and from the building’s electrical service.
What is its output in BTU/h?
204,720 BTU/h according to Thermo 2000, for 60 kW. We compare that value with the heating load and hot water demand before confirming the size.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
A 10-year limited warranty on the tank, for closed-loop heating, and 2 years on electrical and mechanical components.
