A compact commercial boiler and who it is meant for

The BTH ULTRA 27 is the 27 kW commercial version of Thermo 2000’s wall-mounted electric boiler. It runs on 600 V three-phase and spreads its output over six 4.5 kW elements, controlled in two stages. Thermo 2000 rates it at 92,124 BTU/h.

It is meant for owners and managers of commercial spaces, offices, clinics or workshops heated with hot water, or about to be: radiant floor, radiators or hot-water baseboards. It works for new construction as well as for replacing a boiler at the end of its life.

How it fits a Quebec building

In Quebec, 600 V three-phase power serves a large share of commercial and institutional buildings. On that kind of electrical service, the BTH ULTRA 27 draws 26.0 A and calls for a 40 A breaker and a suggested wire gauge of Cu 8 or Al 6. For a shop in Laval or an office in Longueuil whose mechanical room is already crowded, its wall-mounted format and 75 lb weight keep it off the floor.

On the hydronic side, it holds 3 US gal of water, connects with 1 1/4 in female NPT fittings and works up to 30 psi (207 kPa). Its temperature range runs from 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C), wide enough for a radiant floor as well as radiators, two uses Thermo 2000 lists for this series. The manufacturer also presents it as backup for a heat pump, a geothermal or a solar system.

The T2 UltraSmart controller handles the rest. It modulates output based on demand, adjusts the water temperature using the supplied outdoor sensor, stops heating in mild weather and offers a Boost mode. Its backlit display and presets by distribution system make commissioning simpler for the technician and the building manager alike.

It all starts with a free on-site estimate. We check the capacity of the 600 V panel, the condition of the loop and the existing emitters, then give you a written quote that names the boiler and the components to plan for, including the circulator and the expansion tank, which are not on Thermo 2000’s list of supplied items.

Our crews then mount the boiler on the wall, install the supplied 30 psi relief valve and temperature and pressure gauge, connect the piping and the electrical circuit, fill and purge the loop, then set the controller and the outdoor sensor curve. As for warranty, Thermo 2000 covers the tank for 15 years and the electrical and mechanical components for 2 years (parts).
