What the commercial BTH ULTRA 9 is

Thermo 2000 offers its BTH ULTRA in two families: a residential line at 240 V single phase and a commercial line at 480 V and 600 V three phase. The BTH ULTRA 9 belongs to the second. It delivers 9 kW, or 30,708 BTU/h, with three 3 kW elements designed for 347 V, and connects to the 600 V three-phase supply found in many commercial and institutional buildings.

It is the smallest size of the 600 V version. It is aimed at spaces where heating demand is limited: an office or showroom heated by radiant floors, a shop, a small zone of an institutional building served by its own loop, or the replacement of a low-output commercial electric boiler. It can also back up a heat pump, geothermal or solar.

Simple to power, easy to set

At 600 V, the BTH ULTRA 9 draws only 8.7 A. Thermo 2000 lists a 15 A breaker and copper wire gauge 14 or aluminum gauge 12, which makes it easier to add to an existing commercial panel. The boiler runs on a single stage: its three elements heat together.

The T2 UltraSmart controller brings the convenience of modern controls. With the supplied outdoor sensor, it sets the water temperature on one of three curves (MIN, STD, MAX); warm weather shutdown rests the boiler when heat is not needed. The backlit display, presets by distribution system, Boost mode, pump purge and 24 V supply for the thermostat round out the package.

Wall-mounted, it weighs 75 lb, holds 3 US gallons of water and connects with 1 1/4 in female NPT fittings, with two reducers supplied. Its operating range is 50 °F to 190 °F (10 °C to 90 °C).
