The N4A4S24AKANA in brief
Your 2-ton central air conditioner is reaching the end of the road, while your electric furnace still runs well. Arcoaire’s N4A4S24AKANA is the outdoor unit that takes over: a 24,000 BTU/h nominal size, R-410A refrigerant, a single-stage scroll compressor, a single-speed fan and a filter drier. Its galvanized steel cabinet has a baked-on powder coat finish, and its published sound power is 74 dBA, with or without a sound shield.
It suits cottages, bungalows and plex units that have their own ductwork. It connects to a coil set on the electric furnace or housed in an air handler, sold separately, and leaves the heating as it is.
Why the coil matters as much as the outdoor unit
Arcoaire publishes a range of 13.4 to 16.0 SEER2 for this size. The spread does not come from the outdoor unit but from the matched indoor unit: depending on the coil set on the furnace or air handler, the same air conditioner lands at the bottom or the top of the range. That is why we examine the indoor unit before proposing the outdoor unit. SEER2 is the current rating standard; it does not compare directly with older SEER ratings.
Before ordering
- The panel must be able to take a 208-230 V single-phase circuit protected by a fuse or breaker of 25 A maximum.
- The refrigerant lines connect at 3/8 in (liquid) and 3/4 in (vapor). Arcoaire allows up to 250 ft (76.20 m) of total equivalent length.
- To cool below 55°F (12.8°C), approved low-ambient accessories are required.
- The unit is cooling only: sold alone, it does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
- Arcoaire states that the N4A4S series is no longer in production: quantities are limited.
The manufacturer’s parts limited warranty is 10 years for the original owner with registration within 90 days of installation, otherwise 5 years; the certificate states that in Quebec, it cannot depend on registration.

Can I keep my current coil?
Not necessarily. The 13.4 to 16.0 SEER2 rating depends on the matched indoor unit, and the coil must suit R-410A and the 2-ton size. We check the existing coil during the free estimate.
What electrical circuit is needed?
A 208-230 V single-phase circuit, with a 15.1 A minimum circuit ampacity and a fuse or breaker of 25 A maximum.
Does it qualify for the LogisVert grant?
No. It is cooling only and, sold alone, it does not qualify for Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert grant.
What warranty does Arcoaire provide?
A 10-year parts limited warranty for the original owner if the unit is registered within 90 days of installation; otherwise, 5 years. Subsequent owners get 5 years. According to the certificate, in Quebec the warranty cannot depend on registration. Labour is not covered by the manufacturer.
