Quick facts
The Gree FLEXXHTR heating element is the genuine auxiliary heat for FLEXX R-410A air handler cabinets (FLEXX24 to FLEXX60HP230V1, AH and BH versions). It is installed in the cabinet’s electrical box, with its breaker, and connects to the L1 and L2 terminals.
Replace or add auxiliary heat without changing the system
Many FLEXX R-410A central heat pumps are still in service. When the element fails or more auxiliary heat is needed, the genuine Gree part avoids modifying the cabinet. For each element, Gree publishes the minimum circuit ampacity and the maximum breaker size, at 240 V and at 208 V.
Outputs and approved cabinets
- FLEXXHTR5KW (21-4227-00) and FLEXXHTR8KW (21-4216-00): FLEXX24 and FLEXX36.
- FLEXXHTR10KW (21-4216-01): FLEXX24, 36, 48 and 60.
- FLEXXHTR15KW (21-4217-00): FLEXX36, 48 and 60, two circuits.
- FLEXXHTR20KW (21-4228-00): FLEXX48 and 60, two circuits.
Gree’s instructions
Cut all power and remove voltage from the cabinet’s L1 and L2 terminals before connecting the element: Gree warns of a fire hazard. Use copper conductors. The element’s breaker serves as a service disconnect, not as overcurrent protection. For 15 and 20 kW, the FLEXXSPCKIT jumper bar brings the element down to a single power supply.

Frequently asked questions
Which kit fits my FLEXX air handler?
Per Gree’s submittals: FLEXX24 takes 5, 8 and 10 kW; FLEXX36 takes 5, 8, 10 and 15 kW; FLEXX48 and FLEXX60 take 10, 15 and 20 kW. Send us your air handler model number and we confirm before ordering.
Is my system R-410A or R32?
The outdoor unit and air handler nameplates say so. R32 FLEXX ULTRA and FLEXX ECO air handlers use different heaters, on a separate page.
Do I need two circuits?
The 15 and 20 kW kits have two power circuits. Gree’s FLEXXSPCKIT jumper bar lets you combine them on a single supply.
Can you install it?
Yes. We fit the kit in the air handler and coordinate the connection with a licensed electrician, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
